what is karma?
I believe I understand what the posts total is under each user name, but what does karma relate to?

karma is a blend of Post counts, If you start a thread you get Karma for the replies, and individuals can also give karma for good posts, and take it away for bad ones too.
The karma is a measure of how involved a member is. Andy was hoping to make the points into a kind of credit that can be used but the idea has not been fleshed out as of yet.

Karma the Ultimate Law of the Airstream Forum, the source, origin and fount of all other laws which exist throughout Airstream Culture.
Karma is the unerring law which adjusts effect to cause, on the electrical, mechanical and holding tank planes of the Airstream being.
Free Will to obsess about Airstreams creates Karma and can change Karma. Our past life karma was created by exercising our own Free Will - that God-given right to choose for ourselves which Airstream(s) we own in each lifetime.
As no cause remains without its due effect from greatest to least, from a malfunctioning water pump down to the movement of your hitch, and as like produces like, Karma is that unseen and unknown law which adjusts wisely, intelligently and equitably each effect to its cause, and every Airstream to its legally registered owner ... tracing the former back to its producer ... possibly as far back as Jackson Center, Ohio (a.k.a. Mecca). Though itself unknowable, its action is perceivable.

Karma award
Porky,
Was that an entry in the monthly "Dr. C. Creative Writing" competition? I thought entries weren't supposed to be submitted until the last day of the month.
Don
PS: Don't you mean "adjusts affect to cause", instead of "adjusts effect to cause"?

Good question ...
As I am just a student ... I asked my Master ... Swinendi Porkananda ... "Oh Master, is it "affect" or is it "effect".
After a great deal of thought and a couple of pints of Guinness he replied:
"Piglet, the jewel is in the lotus of the heart."
"But Master, I am confused," I said.
"So am I," he replied. "You are now closer to enlightenment. Go in peace, Piglet .. and look it up for yourself."
And so I did ... I did mean "effect" as in something brought about by a cause .. an aftermath, a consequence, an outcome, a corollary, a result, a ramification ... and possibly even an upshot.

Blown gasket...
I have just blown a holding-tank gasket attempting to comtemplate the sincerity, yea, the frivolity, of the retorts, riposte, nay rejoinders to this most grave concern of all; 'KARMA'. So now how shall I live, shallow in knowledge, abysmal in interpretation, though deficient in true enlightenment. What now...???
So I think: If your intellect, is perfect, but you suspect, the word effect, is used for affect, then the defect, in your dialect, will be easy to detect. … Should this be correct, then that’s perfect!!.

You fell for it!
Porky,
Boy, did you fall for it.
By my simple device of asking the 'effect-affect' question, I was rewarded with not only another sample of your sparkling creative wit, but also a bonus of Ed & Debbies response.
Your usage was correct, of course. I just wanted you to carry the thought one step further.
Thanks,
Don

I just don't get it...
Sorry folks, but I'm just not staying with the thread here...
C'mon guys... Karma is the brown, gooey sweet stuff that you melt onto vanillia ice cream and that they put in the center of chocolates! Duh.... so what's this cosmic significance stuff???
Roger
p.s. I never really did understand why Boy George was singing about candy and lizards... what's up with THAT?

Porky,
With that bit of philosophy, you prove that pigs are the smartest barnyard animal, as I suspected all along. Now I am going to reread it slowly and see if I get it's deep meaning.
I like the part about Jackson Center being our Mecca. I long to do a pilgrimage.

Re: Andy ~
I will look into this feature. Where do you think it would be best displayed?
