Warn System implemented

The forums warning system is becoming operational - sounds draconian? Well not really. The warning system is a tool to help moderators track and correct unacceptable behavior on the forum. The system is to be used for flagrant policy violations and instances that require moderators to alter or remove posts.

The system will not be used for harmless mistakes e.g. double posts, large fonts, posts in the wrong sub-forum etc. These are not malicious and we understand that they happen.

Please ask us if you have questions about this system, we are learning as we go along and the goal is to make this an on-line community that is friendly, respectful and polite - where the exchange of knowledge is fostered.

Here’s how it works:
  • Your meter is under your avatar, it’s not visible by any other forum member.
  • The meter is set on a 1 - 5 scale.
  • Only a moderator may change the level.
  • Points accrued will drop off after 120 days (provided no other infractions have occurred) sort of like points on a drivers license.
  • If a member reaches 5 points on their meter, they will be banned for 15 days. It is likely that a member would be placed on probation prior to that, however, and all posts by that member would reviewed before they post to the boards.
Here is what an empty meter looks like, as well as a meter with some level showing:

"Warn System"

Dear Janet,

I am new to these forums and to Airstream, have been trying to orient myself. I found a post re. above from you from a few months ago, but the last sentence I can see is something like, "here's how it works:"

Then there is no more info. Is the info somewhere else?

Thanks,

Lynne Loeffler

Lynne - I sent you a PM with entire post text - not sure why you're not seeing it... there are a couple of pictures as well in the original post. Not to worry - your meter is right were it's supposed to be.

Janet,

How come my warn rating displays on all my posts? Or is it just displaying to me?

You (and every other member) can only see your own warn meter...that's normal.

First a warning meter

Next, Commies running everywhere. That's why those big numbers are red.

Now if you really wanted full utility out of this I think it would be an even better idea to watch the warning meter fluctuate as we compose our posts.

Thanks, Shari, Janet's original post said that, I thought she was referring to our Avatar edit page.

I checked out your link to your Globetrotter - nice job! I'd love to have that kind of nerve and skills.

My emails to the Cheney/Bush administration are being ignored by the White House. If I post them here, will the warn system relay them to the domestic spy network?

would you rather have a warning or just have posts deleted?

the warning systems seems like a weird sort of intraverts way of asking someone to mind their manners......my guess is that there are only a handful of folks who've received cautions recently...and we can likely guess who they are ....and then there are the sperm sellers and other odd getrichquick posters...but they vanish quickly here.

what i'd like to know is why did all the posts after 7:34pm vanish in this thread.......?
http://www.airforums.com/forum...low-20890.html

they were all very polite......i think. did they get "forwarded" as mentioned above to geeeee'em or some other government agency?

is discussing enzymes considered porn?

cheers

I just noticed that. I didn't find anything wrong with it especially the next several posts. A little Detroit talk, my hubby's at GM too here in Detroitland. Tough times. Anyway a little flash in the pan and then a nice response from you 2air that probably wasn't going to be read.

We better tiptoe around.

Naw, it's so the black helicopters can spot your trailer from the air easier!

On the closed e85 posting I wonder if someone is an environmentalist and didn't like the direction! I'll take the hit on my meter for free speech!

Jim,
The thread was closed down at the discretion of the moderation staff. It was becoming a flame war with personal attacks which are not tolerated. As far as I know no one was warned for any posts in that thread. May I direct your attention to the Community Policies second paragraph

Then I must assume that some posts were removed and I didn't see them. Right? If that is so then it makes sense.
