Viewing seach results

When I do a search and then click on one of the 'hits' I'm taken to the thread where the hit is found but NOT the individual post.

Usually I scan then entire thread (or use the local search function in the browser). Some time this is not practical. For example search the Casini thread for "fishing".

Surely there is some way to go directly to a specific post?

from the 'advanced search window' enter the term in... "search by key word" (entire posts or titles only)

then limit to a specific "user name" or leave BLANK

then select the "Search Options" # of replies, date, sort results and "search in forums"

scroll DOWN to the LOWER LEFT LAST SECTION...

"show results as THREADS or POSTS", (threads is the default choice)

CHOOSE show results as POSTS...

bam! BETTER THAN using guuuugggglllleeee.......

And it's even better if you know the username for who did the post.

More than one search word produces a strange confusion of results. I'll 'Sort results by' Relevancy if I do that. Maybe do those searches looking for threads, not posts.

I just did an advanced search with the word "fug" and then limited the search to "2airishuman" and further still by selecting Posts.

1 result! amazing!!!

I'll bet "guuuugggglllleeee" works purdy good too.

I still haven't been able to get what I'm looking for. I want to find all the posts with the word "fishing" in the Casini thread.

I don't see a way to limit to a single thread except using the 'search this thread' option. If you go to "advanced" you don't get the restriction to a single thread.

So, I went to advanced search and selected view results as posts. Then I saved the settings. Then I went to the thread and did 'search this thread'. Clicked on a post title in the results, and was taken to the beginning of the thread. Since there are 19 pages of posts in this thread I don't want to go through them all.

I also went to advanced search and did a search on keywords 'Casini' and 'fishing' with the results set to 'posts'. As you would expect I got a mis-mash but some results were in the thread of interest. When I clicked on the post title in the results, I was taken to page 1 of the thread - not what I'm looking for.

Did I miss a step? Any other ideas?

after runny your parameters through the 4umfinditomatic...

there are 7 posts in that thread with the word feeeshing....

and here they are, mixed in with 18 total posts...

not bad, u can READ each of them (from that rally thread) and with little 'static' from irrelevant threads...

don't click on the thread title in each of them, instead click on the blue post in the shaded blue box,

just UNDER the posted by...z-bug (2), c-bear (2), condo, costal, lumi....

btw/psa....i think there is a STOP ORDER on costal salmon/steelhead fishing right now...

last year the run was 1/10 of normal size so they have limited the catch this year in cali and oregone...
