I really liked the thumbnail approach because I didn't have to click the little pic to get an idea of the BIG PIC unless I wanted to see the LARGE SIZE.
When all that is shown is a link to an attached image, it slows down the surfing having to click pic links to pics that waste time because a thumbnail would have been enough.
Please go back to the thumbnail approach?

yes, they should be now...

Andy, you’ve done a wonderful job in creating and maintaining this forum; however, I now have to scroll back & forth sideways in order to see everything on the page. I would rather see a format made to fit the screen where I would only need to scroll down on the page. I know that by changing the screen resolution it can be viewed somewhat differently. I keep my screen resolution on 800 X 600.

I am working on a fix for that. I have a trouble ticket opened about one issue and it should resolve that issue.
I am going to design the site to look as good as possible for those on 800 x 600 but it might seem a little cramped. There are a few things that we could change to save horizantal release estate, like changing the user info to above posts rather then at the left. Also I am going to figure out a way to offer a nearly banner free interface where contributing members can have a streamlined interface with the option of turning the left column off, etc...

In order to prevent side scrolling (temporary fix) just click the buttons to hide the quick reply box. I will try and find out why the quick replay is not resizing right.. then post the back here.

Just to note, I prefer the user info to the left. I find it easier to read down the page without having to visually hop over the user info every time. I have another forum where they do it like that, and it's a bit annoying.
Good job with the updates. They're looking pretty good to me, but I must have a high enough resolution to avoid the scrolling issues.

Andy, I agree with Stephanie, and prefer the user info to the left.
It's 11:20PM EST here now, and the forum is working wonderfully as it scales to fit the window size, regardless of whether I have Ignore Fonts Size (for vision-impaired) off or on, and regardless of what size I have the font set on.
I will tell you though, that with it off, and text size set on Largest (I'm not that impaired, just old), the minimum window width before horizontal scrolling begins is somewhere around 1700 pixels wide on my 1920 wide screen.
With Ignore Font Size On and text size on Medium, the horizontal scrolling only starts when the window is less than 1279 pixels wide. This would be perfect for full screen display for all but the more severely visually impaired, with a 1280 X 1024 display.
The forum is looking great. Thanks!

Is reverse linear order viewing available??
Hi Andy:
It appears we have lost the ability to arrange the postings in reverse linear order, with the latest post at the top of the thread opening page. That was a great time saver for me, as I no longer had to scroll to the bottom of the last page to read the most recent post(s). Is that feature hidden somewhere among the numerous new viewing options? Or do I have to resort to looking at the "posting tree" to search out then click on the most recent posts to any particular thread?
It seems we now have more complex viewing choices but have lost the single simple choice that worked best for me. I have kept up with rewriting my signature a few times during the last week to keep certain information posted there as the various changes have roiled through the Forumscape. If the electronic dust ever settles down, I might be able to figure things out. Many of the recent changes are good, and thanks for those, but others just seem to provide a wider selection of less useful options. A devotee of of trailing edge technology ....

Sorry for the troubles... I think we are over the hump, the switch from 2.x to 3.x last May was major and the recent upgrades have been for security. I have been working on a new way to maintain the software and I think it will be pretty smooth from now on.
Your viewing options should not have changed since last May's upgrade. To change the settings "order of posts" visit the following link and look towards the middle of the page.

the " New Thread" button appears at the header page of the forum. In other words you have to be at the start of the particular forum you are looking at to post a new thread. Otherwise you may be looking at a page inside the forum where only a reply to the posts or threads would be appropriate.

I am suddenly unable to automatically log in. I have the box checked to remember me, but I am forced to log in each time I come back. Everything else is great, or something that I can get used to.

I have not experienced that one yet as I routinely log out to avoid ninja posts. However, I notice that when I do log out, I am still listed as an active user although (thankfully) no one at my machine can actually post anything.
Not a big deal, but it is different than before.

You are correct. I closed my browser. Opened a new one. Selected the airstreamforum index page from my Favorites. Confirmed that again, I was not automatically logged in. Looked at the bottom of the page, and there our name was.
I now know what it feels like to have an out of body experience. Just sitting there looking at myself "logged into" Airstreamforum, wondering if I'm having fun or learning anything new, and feeling a bit left out as I look back at the "User Name" and "Password" fields begging me to fill them out, wondering why that checkmark even bothers sitting in the "Remember Me?" box.

The online users is based on a 1 hour timeout. So if you have been by within the hour, it will show you as still here. It has been this way for quite sometime. Give it an hour and it will go away.

No.
It was not like that before when I selected the "log out" option. I checked. Once I purposely logged out, my name did not show up.
I can live with the way it is now, but it is NOT the way it was before.

I'm not actually all that worried about the log out stuff. It would be nice to not have to log in each time, but that too isn't the end of the world. I'm just having some fun.

I thought it was just me.
Until recently, I've NEVER had to log into Airstream Forums, except the first time, and selected "Remember Me". Every time I brought it up from my Favorite, and every time I clicked on the link in an email message about a respons, it logged me in automatically, from a cookie, I assume.
Now every time I come to the forum, I'm not logged in. If I click on the link in an email about a response, it asks me to log in. This is true for the computers at home and at work.
