Thanks for the thanks

I have hundreds of posts and years of membership in the Airforums, and only a minute ago did I realize I had "thanks" from various people - like over the span of 4 years - that I did not know existed. So for anyone who sent me a "thanks" note over the last 4 years and I did not respond, my apologies!

Apparently, now that I look, there is that "thanks" comment on each post and I never knew what it did or that I had responses - my bad.

This feature used to be called "karma", but was renamed to thanks a while back.

How do you know that someone has sent you thanks except by going to the user CP page.

3 ways...

1. the user 'cp' shows the last 20 deposits but OLDER deposits roll OFF the page bottom...

2. there is an automatic NOTIFICATION system that will send you a generic PM whenever thanks are deposited...

members can turn on/off the notification system.

3. randomly CLICK on the 'thanks' button on EACH of your own posts (older posts for example) ...

IF anyone has left thanks for THAT POST their thanks/comment will all display in a pop up window ...

for example a 3 year old post with 5 'thanks' from 5 members will ALL be listed IF the author clicks on the button...

the 'user panel' display feature is only set up to show the most recent 20, but #3. works back to the dawn of time ...

You can't respond to the thanks note directly. In the "posted by" column you can click on the name and leave them a quick note on there personal page.

I too was oblivious to all the "thanks" and other comments as they are cleverly disguised!

So "thanks" to all!
