I am curious as to how symbols show next to one's post if theposter does not add it and do they mean something?

You mean like the "cool" smilie next to mine? That's down at the bottom of the message box, listed as Post Icons. You see the ones on the right side? Look down to the bottom and pick one.

That is what I am talking about but I just don't remember choosing one and it showed up in my post.

Hmmm, I chose one and it appears only in the title. Maybe if you chose one for the first post of a new thread??? Lots of little gremlins running around the forum this week, anything is possible.
