Support Airstreamforums!
Please take a look at Andy's 'New Server' post of the last few days. This thread has been viewed about 250 times so far and I hope Andy is receiving a fraction of the support he has put into this website. You'd have to admit you've extracted value many times over what you might give -- but do it today. Please look deep in your billfold and decide what Airstreamforums is worth to you. Put up even half the cost of a magazine subscription if that is all.
This website is loading slowly right now. I see 30 members and 112 guests logged on. The upgrade certainly is needed. I know I hovered and learned for several months before I joined. Take a look at the Hello Guest!! thread and join in when you feel ready... But until then let's keep this the most lively and informative Airstream resource on the net!
User rules prohibit bumping threads but I suspect an exception can be made to keep us ALIVE. Thank you, thank you, thank, thank you.

I sent my donation, how 'bout you?
Absolutely right! Where would we be without this place? And it is painless to donate thru PayPal. Let's all do our part.

Airstreamforums / Made the Haj to Jackson Center
I just got back from a trip to visit Ohio and my sister and I made the drive to Jackson Center on friday Oct. 22. We had a super duper long tour of the factory because they'd completed the week's production early so we were able to poke into many areas that are normally off limits. We were able to peek inside dozens of partly to fully completed units and may have seen your new one!
Wear COMFORTABLE shoes if you go! My clogs were clobbering me by the end of the tour! Got pink flamingos for my birthday present though. More eager than ever to get an AS, but definitely think a 19 footer is too small.
Kinda like the 22 ft CCD, but what are the odds I'll find a used one?
I'd love to contribute to this forum but don't have paypal. Where can I send a check.
Paula

Thank you Paula. Welcome to ASForums --- there is so much in the daily posts and Search function to learn here. I wish you a long and happy Airstream life.
I recall being in 'looking' status for quite a long time. Was rather smitten with the 25' CCD but being able to abandon my unit while hiking or trout fishing won out for an older model....
Go back to New Server and click on the blue highlighted Organic Hosting. There you will see the link to send a PM (private message) to Andy.

I'm glad you posted this. I was gone and missed the new server thread. I went and donated what I could to help out. This is without a doubt the most useful place on the web for me, and I'm happy to support it.

Will donations resolve the problem?

Bob, I share your enthusiasm for Airstreamforums and your applause for Andy and the excellent job he's done. But I suspect that "bumping" threads is discouraged because some of the original information gets overlooked or misconstrued. To fully understand why the forums have become overcrowded, we need to look at a couple of quotes from Andy's original thread:

Many members stepped forward to donate money for a new server last year and all seemed to be going well until the other forums were added. Now I can barely access the site with my broadband connection.
I'm not criticizing Andy's decision to branch off into other discussion groups, but unless I'm missing something, the contributions being discussed now would go to a general fund to support the new server and primarily benefit the two forums that get about 8x more traffic.
I would much prefer a solution whereby ASforum members could contribute to a fund which would ensure the continued growth and prosperity of Airstreamforums, if that's possible.

Thanks to all of ya'll for your support. I have spent 1000s of hours managing our site over the last 2.5 years. I know that the slow server right now sucks. Trust me, I am going to fix it as sson as possible.
After the server upgrade, if we are still putzing along, I'll look into a dedicated server solution for this site. Please be patient, I will get the speeds back up...

I just installed some software to cache PHP so server load should go way down! For those of you that don't know what a cache is, baiscally it means ther pages should load much faster. I'll also install this software on the new server when that get's put into place.
