Spinning rainbow ball???
The 'ball' appears when I attempt to reply...no response.
After 5 or more tries it will sometimes stop and all is OK...Has anyone else had the concern?
On another note...why is this site, "Not Secure?"

I thought the spinning rainbow ball meant that your Mac had too many background processes going on. My iPad also tells me this sight is not secure.

May be the spinning beach ball of Mac’s demise. Been there . . .
Suggest backing up everything and getting to a Mac service station, to have a brain scan.
We had an Nvidia card go bad years ago.
Be sure not to overheat the computer, especially a laptop, by setting it on a soft surface like a pillow.
What model and age is your Mac?
Good luck,
Peter
PS there is a thread on not secure in the site admin forum. Login is secure. More later when I get back home.

Gotcha . . . Try deleting all cookies just before you log in here to see if that helps.
FWIW our old laptop was also a MBP but slightly older.

Here is Janet's June post from another thread explaining things:

We hand coded an update to make the LOGIN page https. This is the page where user credentials are passed and the only sensitive data we store. Once a member has logged in the site reverts to http (and the alert begins to display in browsers). Using https on all pages actually breaks some things the forum. Offsite links and hosted images may no longer work, ads don't display, photos, etc.
So... as you login the page is secure (https) but once you have logged in the regular site is http. Since no login/pass info is being sent on these pages we believe this is safe and reasonable. We will eventually switch to full SSL but as noted by other posters there are some concerns to weigh as we make that choice.

Hi
The spinning ball is most likely being "fed" by one or more of the ads on the page. They seem to like pushing a lot of video in ads these days. You also will notice the battery dying pretty quickly because of this. The more ads on the page the faster it all goes downhill ....
The same ad stuff makes it pretty much impossible for a forum to rate as "secure" under the new guidelines that are being used. They are not fed via HTTPS with verifiable certificates. If they did that, watch for the ball spinning even more as it tried to validate a bazillion certs.
One hint: stock a spare power adapter. This nonsense fried the 12V to USB-C version I was using. Thank goodness Amazon can ship to campgrounds

Do you have a 12-volt "cigarette lighter" outlet? [which you added maybe?]

Hi
Yes indeed and I have a bus bar that I hard wired a couple of the chargers to as well.
There's a bus bar arrangement on the back of the modified center console. It has:
1) two 5 outlet USB chargers
2) two 100W single cable USB-C chargers
3) The three outlet "cigarette lighter" gizmo
4) The DC/DC converter to charge the lithium's off the 7 pin
5) The MPPT solar converter output
6) .... ( I must be forgetting something ...)
Tied into it.
There is a solid state switch to cut off all the charger stuff if needed. Various breakers are here and there to reduce the amount of smoke generated in the event of a short somewhere
Yes, a long and complicated answer to a very simple yes/ no question ....

Good idea. Apple fights ad blockers, I assume because they share revenue.
If you're using Safari, it disables most ad blockers.
I found the one I'm using now, U-Block Origin.
Not U block, be careful, many sites that promise U-Block Origin send you to U block.
As I'm reading my post, the icon says it's blocking 238 elements.

It just did it again with this response w/o the spinning ball.
I click reply, get the proper window but no response with the mouse pad.
I had to exit and re-enter 4 times before getting a response.
I turned 1blocker off with no improvement.

The site has tons of redirects and tracking junk trying to load...I get the same thing on my laptop where chrome will say dns error and then automagically loads the page up.......
This is what happens when you monetize a site....all the add on crap creates load on demand issues. The remote ads, trackers, and spam can cause javascript errors and even above the fold errors.
I run 3 of my own websites...been here, there and done that.

Don't panic. Sometimes it's not your computer but your ISP been overloaded or a similar issue on the site you're trying to access. Usually it clears up. If not, then do the stuff mentioned above.

Bob, I have had that problem with this forum more times than I care to count. And it seems to do it whether I'm on an Apple device or a Windows device.
Currently, all is well on my 2017 MacBook, 10.14.6.1, Firefox's current version, using Adblock Plus, Ublock Origin, Facebook Container, and Privacy Badger. Adblock Plus is blocking 5 things right now, Ublock Origin is blocking 7, Facebook Container is blocking Facebook trackers, and Privacy Badger is blocking 4 other trackers. The resources consumed by all these blockers is less than all the ads and cookies and trackers.

Hi
If you combine all these feeds with a "small pipe" to the internet, you will have issues. If something in the background is violently trying to do updates, even a medium sized connection may be overloaded before you even fire up the web browser.
One thing that has been mentioned indirectly is DNS. You may or may not be running a local caching DNS. It depends on how your router is set up. That DNS may or may not be pointed at something that is working well. Toss issues there in on top of a "small pipe" and you have a mess.
Yes, the alternative is a site with no ads, then we all get to pay a membership fee. Once you do that, everybody leaves. In this day and age, the only *practical* option is to pack in the ads and the tracking cookies and the locator stuff and ... and ... and ....
Interestingly, if I view a thread that mentions an Oliver trailer, the Weather Chanel feeds me adds for Oliver trailers. The background magic to get all that done *does* take bandwidth. They can't work out where I am to feed me the correct local weather, but the can track forum threads. I wonder where the monetary return is for them . ( = it's not just this site that is stuck in the same ad based trap).
