Search tips please

I would appreciate any advice or tips on how to use the "search" feature. I've found a possible answer to a question that was posted about a week ago but I do not recall the terminology or the name of the poster. It had to do with the number of AS's ever built.
Apparently the search engine here is quite different from others like Google which use quotation marks and plus symbols to refine.
I suspect that tips on using the search feature might be of help to many of us. I've wanted to ask this question before but I'm a guy and we all know that guys don't like asking directions.

I just type in phrases that I recall. No symbols. For instance, this link was found by typing in "60% on the road" after a failed attempt with "airstream on the road".

Try different word combinations. Hope this helps. LJ

The search engine on the forum is based on boolean logic, not normal phrase.

If you run a search for "60% and on the and road" ( all in the same search box) the top 2 of that search talk about the number of units on the road.

If you do not want whole threads, but only the relevant posts click search, then advanced search. Once you have the search terms selected you can choose to only have posts show that contain the search matches. Other operators can be used like "or" or "not".

not only do normal phrases not always work, normal spelling doesn't either. for instance, broaden your searches to include "tounge" rather than "tongue," "breaks" rather than "brakes," "argusy" or "argsoy" for "argosy" and .... oh, i give up.
