Round 2 - Tagline Vote
I moved all entries with 12 or more votes in the Round 1 Vote ( located here) over to this Round 2 poll. As stated please vote for your favorite 10 entries.
Rules for Round 2 Voting:- Vote for up to 10 of your favorite taglines.
- Do NOT vote for more then 10.
Thanks for going though this process over and over until we have a winner. It might seem a bit overkill but it will ensure the best tagline wins.

I used a spread sheet to find the best place to "draw the line" for Round 2 of the tagline vote. A little more then 50% of the entries made the cut. We now have 84 entires left and in this round you should only vote for only their 10 favorite entries.
I used the random function of Excel =RAND() to give each entry a random value between .01 - 1.00 and then sorted the entries according to that random number assigned. Based on a breif review the result was pretty effective with the previous round leaders spread apart and in very different places.
The next round will probably see more then 50% of the remaining entries cut. The goal is to get the list filtered down to the top entries and if a tagline has recieved 5% of the votes and the top 10 have all recieved 20% or more then we don't really need to keep brining these bottom candidates forward. After round 4 we should be down to less then 10 entries and will be letting the poll stay up longer and members will only be able to vote for your single favorite tagline.

Agree, however Andy R has earned the right to be the benificiant dictator and swing the vote to fit the intent of a tag line.

Just a Question?
While I have already voted for my favorite 10 in Round 2 I would really like to know why Round 1 was ended with only 203 voters casting votes for their 20 favorite taglines? Don't we have over 20K+ members? Where are they when we need them? Come on folks! Participate! That is why we have this great Community! We need your input, even if you only cast one vote of the ten you are allowed in this round.... Please make it count! We need a good tagline that can say what we are about to all those guests who visit but hesitate to join us! Let's stir up the Aluminum Lust in all who visit here and continue to grow. This is our opportunity to Shine! Cast you votes NoW! Ed

Ed, I ended the last round with only 203 voters in an effort to keep moving things forward. That round (and this one) are just filters to get rid of the taglines that are fun but not really going to gain mass approval. I see the goal as getting the list down to the top entries and then sending an email out to all 20,000 asking them to vote. I don't want to send an email out during these early rounds as it's a lot of entries to sift through.
If you look at the votes here in round 2 you will notice that there are a handful of entries with around 25% (or more) votes with 115 people voting so far. I suspect that those will be the entries that make it to the final round(s) along with some of the others with considerable votes.
Each round will allow people to vote for a smaller number of entires meaning that people will not be able to vote for taglines they think are "just ok" and only vote for their very favorites. Although I think an argument could be made to speed things along and take the very top entires and move to the finish line faster, I still think it will be proper to continue with a couple more filtering rounds before moving to the semi-final and final rounds. That way we can be sure the best/most popular entries make it through.
I am excited, I really like most of the candidates getting considerable votes!

I think one of the ideals for a tagline is to have it kinda say what the thing you are tagging is even without it. So if you see the tagline, you recognize the "product" even without stating what the product is. A lot of the "popular" ones do just that...I have no doubt it will sort itself out through multiple votes.

I couldn't agree more...
I guess my question was directed more toward getting more members to vote (in this Round) so the final outcome (Tagline) would be a representation of how the majority of our members view this Community Forum. I am not questioning the need to narrow the field, but rather to get more members to show their support for a favorite Tagline. I still hope many will read these posts and get their votes logged in Round 2. Ed

O.K. I have a few problems with this (and I am not bitter about my submission not even making it because it had the word "Airstreamer" in it).
So we can not use the word "Airstream" in any derivative because of trademark issues (even though Airstreamers is not "Airstream" and a noun and I am still not bitter) but it can be used in

How is that allowed?
Second issue - if there is a concern about trademark issues and maybe even copyrights and Airforums is a commercial site (in that it has google advertising to support the site), what allows the use of the word Vulkem for that submission? Is there a licensing agreement for that?
Oh and I am not bitter about my submission being rejected because it had the word "airstream" in the form of "Airstreamer" even though I know I would have won hands down.
