Infractions
Recently, this forum had a software upgrade and our old warning system was converted to an infraction system.
Infraction system is a tool to help moderators track and correct unacceptable behavior on the forum. The system is used for flagrant policy violations and instances that require moderators to alter or remove posts. The system will not be used for harmless mistakes e.g. double posts, large fonts, posts in the wrong sub-forum etc. These are not malicious and we understand that they happen.
Please ask us if you have questions about this system, we are learning as we go along and the goal is to make this an on-line community that is friendly, respectful and polite - where the exchange of knowledge is fostered.
Here’s how it works:
Similar to traffic tickets, infractions might be given for rule violations advising the member of the issue. Depending on the nature and number of infractions, repeat offenders may have their access temporarily or permanently restricted. Basically 3 or more active points (older infractions will expire after 120 days so it's not indefinitely cumulative) will result in some type of account restriction but there is plenty of room for individual consideration if there are extenuating circumstances.
The vast majority of users will never encounter this system and, for those who do, it is fairly self-explanatory. Each infraction (associated with points) or warning (no points) will include a personal note from the mod who sent it.

Thanks, kudos, karma, high fives
The Thanks button is a nice way to show agreement or appreciation for a good post.
Each time you click the thumbs up icon (located in each post), the author of the post receives a point. You have the opportunity to leave a comment as well, which the post author can read.
You can access thanks comments in your user cp (click on user cp on the upper nav bar) and the last 30 or so will be displayed in the center section of the page under "Latest Thanks received" You can also see stats about how many times you've been thanked.
There is a meter in your public profile viewable by others, that also conveys information about the number of times you've been thanked.

Status? You can see your thanks points in your user cp. If you are asking about infractions, you can see that in your profile. But you would know because you would have gotten a note from a mod....

Janet,
In post #3 your arrow points to your "karma meter". You show 3 little green bars, what is the code? One green bar per how many points?

Your number is 48265. There are a number of ways to tell but the simplest is to mouse over your user name and look the link properties.

Hi, Janet. I have an infraction dated 04-05-2006; When will I be released from jail? I think it is past my 120 day sentence.

OK, my limited skills are killing me here... I also want to know my AIR # but when I put the mouse over my username I see no link to properties.. And none of the other links seem to contain the number.
Signed,

Your past indescetion is now part of your permanent criminal record. While it is expired, it will never go away.

My criminal record
I know I've been arrested, but don't know if I have been convicted.
For instance, the time I put an "ignore this thread" link in a post.
Where do I find my forum criminal record?

If your browser doesn't show the link properties or you don't know where to look, just open your own profile. Then look in the "address" window for your browser, the one that shows you the URL of the page you're on right now.
If I open your profile, that URL ends with: members/casa3805-54011.html
If I open my profile, that URL ends with: members/dkb_satx-15566.html
Your member # is 54011, mine is 15566.
