Reporting Multiple Accounts
I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know that having multiple accounts per user is not allowed per our community rules. There are times when multiple accounts are allowed including when spouses each want their own account, if a member uses one account for work and one for personal use, etc.
The reason this is important is that we want to foster a trusted community where people don't have to worry about members creating fake accounts and then posting as various people to flame threads. As surprising as it may sound we indeed have grow adults who resort to this type of action and our wonderful mod teams works very hard to keep the community a safe place for all.
If you are planning to have more then one account (per computer) please contact on of the Admins or Moderators and let them know. If not, you risk being banned for violating the community rules.
For the 99.9% of you who follow all the rules and never cause us any extra work, THANK YOU!
Regards,
Andy R

Ditto to Bob's comments. Couldn't of said it better myself.
Thanks to Andy and all the mods.

Please let one of the moderators know if you help set up an account for a friend or a relative too.
As hard as it may seem to believe, there are still lots of people out there who do not know how to use a forum format, or even use the Internet.
Helping a friend or relative from your personal PC may seem like a duplicate account as well.

Yes, thanks for pointing that out. Please contact us when you setup multiple accounts from one computer so we know that it's not one member trying to setup multiple accounts so he/she can post as multiple people. As strange as it sounds, we do indeed get members who attempt to do this. It's the same as asking a question while sitting around the campfire and then running around to the other side of the campfire to respond. I think that is more fitting for a NUTS Rally, not an AIR Rally.

Almost did it the other day!
Wow; I seriously considered starting a new account a few days ago. It was prompted by not being able to post attachments with my messages. I finally added pics to the "review" campgrounds area instead. Pretty much where they belonged anyho. But I still have a few informative pics on a bike rack that mounts above the propane tanks. So my reason was somewhat innocent. and I did not do it, musta been the other side of my brain recalling the forum rules or something like that. Anyway here sit the bike rack pics- just a burning a hole in my hard drive- begging direction as a ship with a broken rudder.
Thanks for the forum and the folks that maintain it and the members that contribute more than one word at a time. DG

OK, so now I have a question: are you using the MAC address or IP?
Reason being, my broadband connection to the internet uses a single IP. Behind that IP, I have a home network that my wife shares with me (via a cable modem and router). Though she doesn't have her own account (she doen't want it, I do), it may happen some day.

IP Address...we can't (and don't want to) see your personal/business networks

Thanks - let's me know that anyone establishing an account from within my network needs to inform you so you don't think we are in violation.
BTW, since you are using the IP, the personal/business network IP is all you are seeing! The MAC address is computer specific.

Good point. My IP address is assigned via DHCP both here at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and at home using sbcglobal DSL. While my work IP address rarely changes, it has happened. At home it commonly changes. It would be very easy, although still highly unlikely, for confusion about multiple accounts to come from different forum members accidentally getting assigned the same IP address at different times. As Spiffy Gem mentioned the Media Access Control (MAC) address is unique to each network adapter.
Oh, and Mods, thanks for keeping an eye on this!

You know...99.9% of the time it's not a huge problem, it's just something we try and keep on top of - mostly with spammers. So if you do have a valid reason for having multiple accounts, just do us mods a favor & let us know - maybe we can help you out. Like if the reason you set-up a second (or third ) UserID is only because you forgot your password, want to change your UserID or something like that - we can do it for you and eliminate the excess clutter of managing multiple IDs. Thanks ~

Andy,
That sounds like one of my rallies! Have you read that thread lately?
I am not sure if the members on here know what the back-end of a forums looks like. There is a ton of information.

Your LAN is private to them too.
The forums can only see the IP address given to you by your ISP. The MAC ID of your network card is usually not visible to other folks. This is a hard-coded ID for your specific hardware.
A business account on a broadband connection could very well have several IP addresses assigned to it.
Most of us have more than one PC on a home network now. The address assigned by your home router should not appear on the forums.

Andy,
I had setup multi accounts. One is for me and, the other one is for another location. The "towner7" account was my original & I had forgotten the password at one time. So, you can erase it if you plse. That will leaves me with two..Thanks

Yep, that's fine...one UserID.
You can log on from anywhere...I did once from a Cyber-Cafe in Aruba...just because I could!
