Recalls

There should be a thread that deals only with recalls for Airstream products. Many posts are scattered around the Air Forums dealing with this, but it would be nice if they were all located in one area.

Feel free to post any recalls you find dealing with the Airstream Products.

More specific product recalls may also be posted under their BRAND name or sub-forum (ie plumbing etc.)

There is another thread titled 'LATEST RECALLS' http://www.airforums.com/forums/f161...ml#post1167319
that should be included under a single banner "RECALLS" as many of us own Airstream products that are far from new.

Dave

The following is a list of RV-related recalls for October, 2011, compiled by the National Highway Transportation Safety Association (NHTSA).

• Airstream is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 International, 16-foot ,recreational vehicles manufactured from May 10, 2010, through September 27, 2011. These vehicles were manufactured with the incorrect tire information label. Airstream will mail to consumers the corrected label or the customer will have the option for dealers to install the label free of charge.

• Airstream is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Avenue coaches manufactured from May 10, 2010, through July 29, 2011. The driver’s and passenger’s seat swivel mechanism locking pin could loosen and become disengaged from the swivel mechanism allowing the seat to swivel back and forth going down the road. Airstream will notify owners, and dealers will repair the coaches free of charge. The safety recall began on August 19, 2011.

Check your model on the fridges from 1987 to 2010. Even if they were fixed once already, they may have to go back again.

This site consolidates a lot of the Airstream Recalls quite well.

AIRSTREAM RECALL NOTICES - LATEST RECALLS FOR AIRSTREAM - ARFC

Scroll toward the bottom of the page and pick your model.

Just because your unit is older, you should not assume that the recall has been addressed by some previous owner.

Them's the brake lights: 10-to-13-year-old Daimler vans face recall

Posted: Dec 8, 2016 4:27 PM | Last Updated: Dec 8, 2016 4:27 PM
ATLANTA, GA-- Daimler Vans USA is recalling more than 17,500 Dodge and Freightliner Sprinter vans because of a faulty warning light. The recall affects 2003-2006 Dodge and Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vans which may have problems with their instrument clusters.
The brake warning light on some thevehicles is not illuminating during the vehicle start-up check. That means the driver might not know whether the warning light is working correctly.
No crashes or injuries related to this issue have been reported.
Mechanics will fix the problem by re-coding the instrument cluster with the correct settings for the bulb check.
Dealers have already been notified of the issue but Daimler has not yet provided a specific notification date for the van owners.
German automaker Daimler owned Chrysler until 2007 when it sold the company to Cerberus Capital Management. It is now part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles but Daimler Vans USA and the Dodge division of FCA are both handling the recall of these vehicles.

NHTSA lists 2 recalls for the 2009 Airstream Classic - I was also affected by these. Our "New" 2008 had the same issues, but we didn't get our trailer until 2016.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2009/A...LASSIC#recalls

Just get your trailer to a AirStream Dealer or Authorized Repair center and they can get the work done at no charge to you. Ours resulted in a new brake controller being installed and the brake lines being repaired.

Spare Tire Bracket/Carrier May Detach from Trailer

Got an email from NHTSA today. Looks like some AS trailers 2018-2020 (including Nest, but not Basecamp) have a new recall.

Details at https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=19V334

Affected trailers were manufactured : NOV 27, 2017 - FEB 16, 2018 and FEB 04, 2019 - APR 04, 2019

Description of the Cause : The spare tire securement bracket was not welded to specification. The bracket
was welded with inconsistent quality, sometimes with insufficient heat to
cause weld penetration. The bracket was not inspected prior to shipment to
Airstream and installation.

The planned date for notification of dealers and owners is June 28.

Thanks for the info. My trailer is within the VIN range. Would be nice to have a photo or drawing of the part in question but I'll try to figure it out and add some zip-ties as temporary reinforcement.

Erik, did you figure out where to secure the spare tire assembly? We’re heading out Wednesday and I’d like to do something before we go.

I’ve got a spare web tie down ratchet strap and might just go around the frame and carrier for piece of mind until we can get it repaired.
