Problems uploading photos
Searched under FAQ on "how to upload photos" it says to go to User CP and then click on the album link. There is no album link in my User CP, have been trying all night to upload 1 picture to send to a contact. Is there some problem with this system right now?

Are you trying to add photos to posts or to the photo gallery (tab at top of page) or..?

I was trying to add a photo as an attachment to a reply I was making to a private message. I tried to click on the add image icon but it just kept displaying a java box requesting a URL. Then I went to the photo gallery and upload, went through all the steps, it just will not upload, saying the file is to big - it's 1 photo. Then did the search which told me about the album, and as I said there is no choice under our control panel for an album. I have uploaded photos in the past in reply to a post, didn't have such a problem.

The 'add image' icon? Do you mean the paperclip? When I do that I get the normal 'Manage Attachments' window that will allow me either to browse/attach from my computer or to designate a source URL. That same window has info on maximum filesize -- for jpegs it is 1600 x 1600 pixels and no larger than 3 MB. One picture or not, our site software does not work at all with full size digital camera output.

The icon I'm referring to is the "insert image" icon located on the "Quick Reply" it is right next to the paperclip.

Okay, that one is for web uploads only. Instead of quick reply, use 'Post Reply' at the lower left corner of the last post.
The full reply window has two locations from which you can access the unabbreviated manage attachments window -- the paperclip above the posting area or scroll down and click 'manage attachments.'

This is the information I'm referring to, there is no 'Pictures & Albums' link on our "User Control Panel" We have posted several photos before as attachments with no problem.
How do I use albums?
As a member, you can create Albums of images that are linked to your public profile. Albums can be created by visiting the User Control Panel, and clicking on the 'Pictures & Albums' link, and then clicking on 'Add Album'.
Each album can have a title ('Joe's Holiday to Nepal'), a description ('A bunch of photos from my recent adventure') and can be of three different types: Public, Private or Profile. - Public albums can be viewed by anyone
- Private albums can only be viewed by site staff (moderators, administrators) and your Friends and Contacts (info)
- Profile albums are viewable only by you. However, you can use the images to customize your public profile (info)
How do I upload pictures?
Once you've created an album you can upload images to it. Simply view the album and click on ' Upload Pictures'.
You'll have the option to give each picture a caption, and to set one image as the Album cover, which will be displayed on the public profile. To delete an album or edit the title, description or album type, click on 'Edit Album'. To delete an image, or to edit a caption or change the album cover, click on 'Edit Pictures'.
All members who have access to your album images can comment on them, in a similar way to Profile Comments ( more info). You can delete any image comments from your albums, and report inappropriate messages to moderators.
When you have uploaded a picture, you can place it in your posts by using the BB code text that is displayed below the image when you view it at full size.

To post pics in images, click on reply, then click on "go advanced" at the bottom of the reply editor. You will see an option to add images to posts.

all photo galleries
For the users photo gallery question, I followed the path
Home > Gallery ( in the blue banner area at top of page)
Then at bottom of page selected > Member's Photos ( is also down the left links at “home” from Directory / Airstream Photo)
Then selected my forum name and clicked thru to my photo’s.
Good luck.

I'm soooo! glad I'm not alone here. I've spent the last 3 hours trying to add a photo to a reply. It's just plain crazy, why something that should be so simple, can be made so difficult by poor or wrong directions.

Did you try this?
How to add photos to a post
- When creating a thread or posting a reply, scroll down below the text box to the 'Additional Options' area.
- Click "Manage attachments." A separate window will pop up.
- Click "Browse." Then select the file from your computer to be uploaded. Be sure that the photo is appropriately sized. 1600 x 1600 pixels (or smaller) and no more than 3 Meg. Forums software will automatically reduce the size, but smaller size photos will upload much faster. You may select several photos to upload at the same time by repeating the last step.
- Click "Upload." After pics have loaded close the pop-up window
- Complete your post. Click "submit reply" to mount the text of your message - photos will automatically appear at the bottom of your post.

hours later....maybe this will work. i found it in a closed thread
Photo gallery
Take a wander through our photo gallery - we have the worlds largest collection of Airstream photos! Members may set up their own photo gallery or post pictures to existing sections of the gallery.
To set up a gallery:
Click the photos tab
> My stuff
> category admin
> add category
Fill out requested info and under parent category select members photos.
Uncheck the box that allows others to post to your gallery.
Then submit by hitting add category.
You now have an open category for your pictures. Use the upload link to add photos. Be careful to add them to your category and not some one else's.
This personal gallery is the one that is linked to in the drop down menu under your user name in the avatar block beside every post.

"You now have an open category for your pictures. Use the upload link to add photos. Be careful to add them to your category and not some one else's.
This personal gallery is the one that is linked to in the drop down menu under your user name in the avatar block beside every post. "
i still cannot upload even a small jpeg, and, no personal gallery in the drop down menu under my user name.
and now i find myself talking to myself on this forum...

Wait - don't give up.....
The gallery is still out of commission after our server change - (you may have noticed the same 2 pics on the portal page for a week) and even is you were able to navigate around - the pics won't load. When we get this fully fixed in the next few days, we'll get you some help

Thanks Janet,
I uploaded some photos of my trailer into the registry, but like others couldn't add or look at my photos either.

Attaching Photos
I figured out how to attach photos to a reply. In the instructions given. It is not clear to me that you cannot use the "Post Quick Reply" which shows up just below thw last message box. You need to go below the last message box and look for the "Post Reply" button at the lower left of the screen. You will get a message board to post your reply and WAAAAAY! below it if you curser down you will find the place everyone refers you to when they tell you how to attach a photo.
