Fault Finding Commisson
It is a relief to know that the WBCCI, and Airstream aren't the only areas under scrutiny. That we have our magnifying glasses on zombies, slugs, and no-posters.
It was once said, "We shall overcome!"

Back to the subject at hand (although I would like to put in a plug for Sweet Potato Pie)...There are probably folks, such as myself, who really get a lot out of reading the forums but don't have the knowledge or experience to offer constructive comments. Personally, you contributors have saved me a lot of time and effort (not to mention money) these past few years with tips on everything from lowering bulb wattage to combatting corrosion. For that I thank you. Keep it up!
There, I have another post to my credit.

I was a viewer for a long time and am just now thinking of posting. By the way, it isn't easy to find the "create a new post" gizmo.... where is it?

Check out these threads for "how to" here:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f138...ics-44928.html
On the subject of zero posters and absent members:
Maybe an email could be sent to members who have "0" posts, and have not logged in for 1 year or more, informing them that they need to at least login to maintain their membership. If they do not reply then they get deleted/purged from the system.

Latest statistics
We have 45,484 member names, as of 26 Jan 2011.
Members who have 100 posts and have posted in the last month: 536
Members who have 100 posts and have posted in the last 3 months: 1056
(with 10 total posts and posted in the last 3 months=1649, so reducing the number of posts doesn't increase the "active" list by as much as I thought it might.)
In that group of 1056, here's how the West (my bias clearly showing here- ) was represented: Arizona - 26
California - 70
Colorado - 20
Idaho - 3
Montana - 3
Nevada - 5
New Mexico - 8
Oregon - 22
Utah - 3
Washington - 20
Wyoming - 1 . (Antique Pedaler, you lonely up there?)
...total......181 (or 17% of the active members, but
.......................23% of US population)
So somewhere there is a concentration of members, but where? I'm surprised it's not Florida. New York - 6 (together, FL and NY equal the CA population
Florida - 28 but not an equal number of active members)
Ohio - 21
Canada - 30
Texas - 55 (5% of the active members, but 8% of the population)
I'm thinking there's just a lot of "members" who didn't include a state in their profile (and they are certainly not all full-timers, either-- ).

I believe there are a lot of undercover CIA and DEA agents with Airstreams, and then there are also the guys on the other side.

This is an active forum with a great member base. I'm guessing that your numbers are a continuation of site stats posted back in September.

Bimpy, have no fear. When I looked at the posting stats the first time [months ago], I was just trying to get a manageable list of members to try out some mapping programs. Then I got interersted in the dichotomy between the number of members and the number I estimated to be "active." As you can see by some of the other early posts, there are many lurkers who take away good poop from the Forums.

No, I'm avoiding making the last metal doors for the Sovereign. We're talking 1/16" tolerances and I don't want to start... sorta like when April 15 rolls around. You can't make these a little bit oversized and then sand them down, like you can with wood.

Zepp, you need to take it to the 2nd order. Compile M*P (member x posts) for each state to get a realistic representation of activity for each state.
Or take the M^p, where p = average posts per day, to get a really interesting statistic that represents the long range activity level for each state.
