Obnoxious "LIMITED OFFER - DON'T MISS OUT" message

Hi all -

I constantly get a full screen "LIMITED OFFER - DON'T MISS OUT" page that 'takes over' my screen. I believe that it "thinks" I am leaving, an it is so obnoxious to have to click "no thanks". Its probably happened 50 times.

Anyone know how to prevent these?

Do you have an ad blocker extension installed on your browser? Go to the "Manage Extensions" area of your browser and install one, like AdBlock Plus and see if that helps. It's free.

Ad blocker does not block pop ads. there is one here on forums form airstream info free or click accept or no thanks does not make any dif. still keeps popping up [about every 40 seconds], I believe same ad that is referred in post #1] adblocker does not block as this pops up many times while on forums portal subjects.

I don't get any pop up ads, not on Airforums anyway. Something is set somewhere to prevent them. Do you stay logged in all the time? If you have to log in each time then a popup will appear before you log in. Otherwise, I'm not seeing them.

UPDATE: Looks like Chrome has an option to prevent these:

I get the same pop up several times during a session on AirForums, and I am already subscribed to the free updates. It is annoying as I have not been able to figure out how to prevent them. I thought signing up would do it, but no.

It doesn't matter if you just log in or have been on for 30 seconds or an hour, that dang pop-up comes so often my reaction is just another reflex, "No Thanks".

I've been a member for over ten years and I just wonder when this 'Limited Time Offer' is going to expire

I use a couple of platforms, Safari w/DuckDuckGo, Firefox also w/DDG (Win-10), Ubuntu and have my privacy and ad-blocking on in all cases. Hasn't stopped this pop-up.

I figure Google (& Chrome) have enough of my web habits already stored and I'm trying not to add any more data than I can. I'd hate to see them spend money for storage on just my extensive browsing habits;-).

Chrome browser has an option to block them, maybe that's why I don't get them.

Thank you, Rich. I mistakenly assumed that I already have pop-ups blocked, but went into my Chrome settings and voila--there it was. We'll browse for a while and see if that seems resolved.

Hopefully blocking all popups doesn't negatively impact other sites. I know that in the past there have been legitimate popups. I also remember there was some indication that a popup had been blocked, and if I see that I can allow that one popup.

(note that blocking popups was the "recommended" setting by Chrome, so I bet the impact should be mostly positive)

Anyway, glad to hear I'm not the only one who had this issue.

Perhaps the forum could fix this. It is annoying. Just set it so that people who have subscribed do not get this popup.

On gmail I click on the spam button and they just go there automatically from then on. Spam keeps them for 30 days but I usually just clear the spam file every day or so.

block of pop-ups on Mac

Basically, blocking pop-ups on your computer is what will stop these from happening. Not sure what type of computer you have, but if it is a Mac and you use Safari, the link below walks you through the simple steps necessary to block those pop-up ads:

1. Open Safari.
2. From the Safari menu, choose Preferences.
3. Click the Websites tab.
4. Click Pop-up Windows on the left sidebar. ...
5. If you want to block popups, find the “When visiting other websites” option (bottom of the window). ...
6. If you select Block and Notify, then you will be notified an a popup is blocked.

You may need to train your ad-blocker, as it only blocks from well know ad sources. Many of the ads on Airfourms are from airforums so they are not part of the default block list. Check the documentation on whatever ad blocked your installed and see how you can add a block.

I use AdGuard.
I never see what you're describing.
My browser is Safari, but I also have it on Firefox.

IMO, the best adblocker was U-Block Origin. But one day I fell for the "minor update, bug fix." on Safari and after that, it never worked again. But AdGuard has been good.

It is put in by the forum and can be stopped by the forum. It is truly obnoxious. There is no excuse for having this pop up every time, even if you have already accepted the "generous limited offer" (which I have).

There is no excuse for forcing members to start researching ad blockers to stop this. Just end it!
