I don't believe so -- but will check.

With a MacPro I can click on a photo that I have posted as an attachment and copy it to my photo files, from there it could be added to my gallery if it's within the size limitations.

Yes, I could have been more clear. I don't believe there is any way to do this from within our forum software. You're completely right, Robert. There are analogous ways to do this on a PC too (not starting a GM vs. Ford war here... ).

Question I want to place a new post

Good Morning. My Wife and I have found a 28' Safari with slide out in Cincinnati Ohio and we live in Northern California. I found the feature that lets you look for volunteer inspectors but I must have operator error as it didn't find anything. First, is there a simple click to do a new post? Thanks.

The search form for finding inspectors can be a bit fiddly, it's easy to click enough boxes to prevent you from getting any results. You have to do 2 searches, one with "Trailers only" and another with "Both Trailers & Motorhomes" because if you just select "both" you'll only get members who chose "both" in their profiles, not either/or. Also, since there's not a "distance from X" option, you sometimes have to do another search in a neighboring state or two, especially for a city situated like Cincinnati, where it's nearer to 2 other states than it is to other OH metro areas.

In fact I think your best bet is a guy in Alexandria, KY... only about 15 miles from Cincinnatti. I'll PM his username and some others I found.

Searching for inspectors

So, the post earlier from Land Sailor made me realize I should have posted this here when I discovered the quirk I mentioned.

The way the data is set up, we should either loosen the search criteria or tighten the data entry or both. One option would be to change both the selection in our profiles and the selection on the search page for types on inspectors to radio buttons, so you could choose only one. As it is, if you chose both "Trailers" and "Trailers and Motorhomes" when searching, you won't find anyone unless someone who meets all your other criteria has checked BOTH of those... but it makes no sense to check both of those. There are in fact 6 members out of the entire member community who selected Trailers+Mohos+Both, 6 others who select Trailers+Both, even a few who checked ALL the boxes but the data is easy to fix, the correct flag is "Both" on their profiles and then the data is fixed.

If you could only choose 1 both for setting your profile and for setting search parameters, it would work out better. As it is, to get the full list you have to do 2 searches, and that doesn't occur to people who aren't database nerds with OCD like me.

Another option would be to make the search more liberal... if one searches for either Trailer inspectors or Moho inspectors, the search would return both the ppl who said they'll do the category the user is searching for, or the "both" category. I don't know which is easier/possible given the vBulletin software.

NOTE: This applies to using the "member search" page and not to the "Find Inspectors" box on the Portal page, which makes you choose from a drop-down list which is better, but still doesn't address the fact that if an inspector checks "both" and you search for "Trailers only" you won't see that inspector.

Inserting a link

Recently went to a Mac..is there a reason this isn't working,
or did I forget too much to make room for what I need to remember.

I have a question about AIR numbers: can we request a specific AIR number other than the one that is assigned to us?

Frank, the short answer is 'not really.' The forum software assigns a sequential registration number when you signed up. So this is a lot like the VIN assigned to each Airstream when it came off the line. The software doesn't have any tool to customize the number -- this is the barrier we would face before even descending into the details of who had that number before, etc, etc.

Sorry...

I generally look first on the Portal page at what is recently posted. Until this week, I could hover over a topic and read a little about the question to see if it was of interest to me. This week that "hover" for a peek look has disappeared on my Mac. Anyone else see that, or know why it is gone? I like it and miss it.

This is probably not much help, but about a week or so ago, I had the same thing happen for a couple days, and then it came back. It is there now for me. It was gone on my desktop and laptop. Both are windows 7.

Idaroba,

It always annoys me when someone says this to me. However I will say it and hope you are less sensitive.

Did you restart computer and browser? That may have been what cleared it for me. I don't routinely turn off my computers, but during that same time period, there was some house cleaning going on. I turned them off so nothing would be damaged while the cleaning was going on near the rats' nest of wiring. Secondary reason was so I could become scarce in an attempt to avoid participation.

Also, if you don't normally log off Airforums, try that using the Log off button. That will reset your cookies and might help.

If that doesn't help, please send the excess cookies to me via PM. I am hungry.

Ken: It did help a lot. I always forget that even Mac's need to be re booted now and then. I often go a month or so between boots. But, at your suggestion, I did a re boot and now my little "hover" feature is working again.

Thanks a bunch. I am sending you 1,258,729 cookies that had also accumulated. You can waddle to your Airstream, and find the frame is not strong enough to hold you anymore.

Sure appreciate your comeback.

idroba, I'm glad that Ken seems to have pointed you in the right direction. Yes, I'm a PC user. I don't often log in from my wife's MacBook but did just now to test this -- my infrequent usage there has set up very few ingrained patterns. And thus, it does show the initial post preview pop-up that you seem to be missing. Log off. Turn off. Reboot. Seems to help.
