I just tried to give some karma and was told that I could not. I was told that "I have handed out too much karma in the past 24 hour and would have to wait until later". How can this be? How can you hand out too much karma? Is it not very bad karma to put limits on karma? I think everyone out there should start handing out karma to EVERYONE and see if their limits can be met. Now that would be good karma.

Chris - make sure you are logged into the classifieds. When you go to the classifieds page check the right side of the upper nav bar. If you can see a link to login, you were logged out at the page change. Please try again

it's nice that MORE pix are encouraged.
i've posted many 100s but only in threads where they are post specific...
it's unlikely i'll ever use the 'member section' for pics but losts of folks do.
it's possible i'll use it/if when it's tied to the blogs or social networking side.
IF you really wanna encourage more photos,
the photo limit for regular accounts has gotta go...
should i ever not renew, the current setup means my photo daze are over.
cheers

I spoke too soon, I am not allowed to give karma again. As a Buddhist, I am finding karma limits to be very wrong and an obstacle to reaching enlightenment.

Andy, Janet, and crew
I just wanted to let you know that this upgrade is great. As always there are things that need sorting out, but overall you folks continue to make this an outstanding forum.
Thanks for doing this.

I finally got the idea from a posting that I should delete my temporary internet files, and it did the trick. I can now look at new posts and todays posts at will!!!

Yes - the wide pages are at the very top of the annoying stuff that needs to be fixed list.

Two things (for now)—
I hate that Classified tab sparkling at me. It's distracting and I think that is the point, to encourage people to check the classifieds. But if the classifieds can't stand on their own, why annoy people? There was a post telling how to eliminate it from my Mac, but I couldn't find the file on my Mac.
Secondly, when I tried to post photos on threads all those many months ago, I never succeeded. I asked about it and got many answers, all different. The ones I tried didn't work either. I gave up. Can this be made simple for the simple minded elderly? Now to take a nap.

The new karma system is whack. Under the old system, when you gave karma, the number of points that you gave was a function of the amount of karma that you had, the number of posts, and your number of years on the forum. So the more karma you had, the more you could give.
I really enjoyed that feature. I don't want to start a discussion of the fairness of allowing members with more karma to give out more karma, and maybe I'm an elitist, I just like the old way better.
. . . and I apologize for waving those pictures of my PressurePro install in everyone's face. I didn't know they would end up in the header when I posted them in my gallery.

here, here!
to paraphrase some famous person, "The old karma system was pretty bad, except for all the other possible karma systems."
Zep
PS--guru-ism, eg, credit for age, experience gained through painful trial and error, and active participation, ought to count for something, even if gurus aren't always right or helpful. just my two cents. all hail 63Overlander, et al.

Yes the old system did have a large ego factor to it. As long as karma remains private it really makes no difference other than ego. However if it becomes a public factor the points per comment clearly give weight to that comment.

I thought it was just me. It seems I went from well over 1600 points down to 39. Some little icon did tell me that I have a riveting personality though. Previously it told me I owned an aluminum hat. ( How did they know?? I haven't worn it since I retired. )
