Multiple Line Feeds is Back!

Will the Board ever fix this problem? I don't have it on other Boards.

Lacking that, can someone direct me to the post that tells how to fix it in Firefox?

Thanks

Could you describe this issue in a little detail. This will help.

Hi Al,

Firefox user here also...this was discussed in the forum about a year ago in this thread: https://www.airforums.com/forums/f48...ml#post2473583

See post #92 for the adjustment to make the browser single up the carriage returns.

I've got the problem when using my PC. On my Mac it's not a problem.

On the PC I switch to the advanced editor and don't have the double line feeds any more.

You probably got the answer from the other replies, but when typing the original post, it looks normal. When I preview, I see double line feeds instead of singles. I can delete one in preview mode and then \the post looks right. I fixed it once but apparently a Firefox update killed the fix.

Hi

Back in the days of doing this with mechanical Teletype machines, multiple carriage returns were a good idea. It gave the carriage time to get all the way back to the start of the line. Technically the machine should not have needed them, but some worked a lot better that way.

Once electronic gizmos came along there wasn't a carriage to return anymore. Some folks went over to eliminating either the carriage return or line feed as a result. One less expensive character to send over that modem. That "divide" is still with us. Conversion from one side ( Unix ) to the other side ( Windows ) often creates odd outcomes.

Just *why* some browsers decide that it's still 1963 and we need multiple CR's is abundantly unclear. None of this stuff works on one of the old mechanical beasts at all. They simply can't cope with it. Still, that's the root of the problem ....

So now you know a whole bunch of stuff you never / ever asked about and didn't want to know (or already knew) in the first place
