Which threads were merged anyway?

I recall seeing other pictures of you Moe, one I believe in a Boston Whaler. Not sure which thread I was viewing. Is it possible that there is another picture of members file? I recall Shari & Hubby in (hobo) costume too. Which reminds me that it would be nice to at least see all the admins pictures. How bout a group shot at their next get together board meeting or at the great decal unveiling ceremony.
I plan on posting my mug shortly...just waiting for ABC to choose me for the Ultimate Makeover show and then when the bandages come off I'm gonna rush home and post it here.

Would be nice to had gotten a better explanation. Would also be nice if a post could be generated to explain such whimsical "housekeeping" at time it is done. I realize that there may have been a logistical reason to reduce some software conflict.

Just my 2cent plea for CONTINUITY and COURTESY.

Well my questions concerning this mystery were ignored apparently which is another lesser mystery in itself (to me anyhow).
My research has determined that there used to be a thread #2491 that was the original "Now Lets See You". Apparently it was merged with the current #15467. Wouldn't a simple explanation for these types of "improvements" be helpful?
We all understand that $#!+ Happens, so did someone press ther wrong button and lose all the missing photos or were some of the Mug Shots deemed obscene?

Oh BTW I think there are pix of all the "Bosses" in various places except for
BobbyW, 74Argosy24MH, Brett the NewKid 64, Dave Jackson (Action), and the long gone 83 Excella (John). there is even a shot of the mysterious CEO Organic Andy somewhere that I have seen.

So I propose a "management mugs scavenger hunt". Winner gets an all expense paid trip to the great official authorized certified bonded and copyrighted decal unveiling and issue ceremony.

Seriously (somewhat) which mod or member's mug shot would you most like to see posted?

I found a group shot of all those guys (plus some other Moderators) in the archives:

The moderators do clean things up occassionaly and when we find threads that are similar, we merge them. It's an individual thing and any of us can do this. In my case it's a random thing where I find a new thread is running parallel of an exsting. In some cases I might leave a redirect if the thread is moved to a different forum.

To be perfectly honest, occasionally we screw up. At least I'll admit to it, and hit the wrong button and things vanish. Unfortunately when that happens we are pretty much SOL. In this case I didn't do any merging of the thread in question but it could have been a software issue also. Normally if we pull objectionable material out, we let the other moderators know. In this case this one may be a true mystery.

On the other hand it is an opportunity to update the thread with some new photos. As a matter of fact in reviewing the links in the old thread, it pulled me all the way back to an early thread that runs parallel to the "what do you do" thread. I saw my original post in which I was three years younger, working a different job, and was still on my first Airstream. Of course I have just updated that post to reflect the sad fact that time marches on.

Hmmm....great picture of the male moderators. We are all well preserved.

Not at all. No real mystery either. The threads were merged. We do not leave posts or re-directs when we merge or split threads. We also do not do it when we move a thread. If we did the forums would be cluttered with all of the move and merge links. This was a decision that was made long ago to try to keep the user interface as clean as possible.

On missing Photos. Member could have removed their photos form the thread if the so decided. For the longest time we were all able to edit posts but it was a privilege that was abused to the detriment of the forum so we lost it. We have gone through 3 or more upgrades on the software and at least one server crash since the "let's see you" thread was started. We have noticed that during the migrations and restore that sometimes pictures do get lost. Whit this much data, it is bound to happen once in a while. It seems to be pictures more than anything else.

Regarding pictures of some of the Moderators. Most of them are out there, but you will have to do some digging. In a way I like being somewhat anonymous, that way when I walk up to a group at a rally, etc no one "knows" who I am. Besides if we all made it easy, where would the challenge be? I know one member that figured I was a 50 or 60 year old guy that was kinda a crumedgon, then he met me. I will let you find the picture.... Happy hunting!

Another thing that could cause pictures to dissappear, which has nothing to do with the forum or the mods, is if they are uploaded on a remote server by the poster and then the the poster remove them from that server at a later date or don't continue the server service.

Re mugshots

One of the nice features on this site that is often overlooked is the ability to post a mugshot in your profile so other people can put a put a name with a face.
In fact, if you look at Brett thenewkid's profile, you will see that he is not really a people. Handsome hunk, though.

WHY ?
Do you actually think I'd spend 24 hours searching for your picture?

Just kidding JohnHD
Actually I've seen your rugged hairy mug, of course now that you are a moderator I suppose you look alot more sophisticated and that your hardhat is a few sizes bigger?
And of course you won't need anymore of those chemicals in your black tank now.

Is it from a late 60's movie poster for The Wild Ones: Part Deux?
What I'd really like to know if what you're doing in the picture...

1. pulling a pin from the grenade you're about to lob into that sissy "Milk Bar,"
2. removing a cop's bullet where it lodged harmlessly in your beard,
3. it's just a hangnail.

I see that Milk Bar sign...something to do with A Clockwork Orange?

I'm seeing more of the 1980s there than 2015, though...

From milkbar.com.au: "A milkbar is one of the great icons of the Australian local landscape. It is a small shop that sells lollies, milk, newspapers, fast food, and general everyday conveniences. It is rapidly being replaced by supermarkets and multinational convenience stores."

Hmm... but how could we know what larger picture this is cropped from?
