Moderator approval - why now?
Why did my last post require moderator approval? That has never happened before and I would think after 4000 posts that it wouldn't be necessary.

I don't know why your prior post had to be approved, but only last night there was a typo in one of my posts— one that the accidental omission of just two letters changed from self-deprecating humor to rudeness. A mod fixed it because it wasn't noticed until after the 15-minute editing window had closed so I couldn't fix it myself. And did it without asking. Which doesn't bother me at all.
Having a lot of posts to your credit doesn't change the fact that we all make mistakes. I for one am glad that the mods don't skip over my posts just because I've got a high post count.

Well if someone finds this offensive:
"Chris, thanks for the feedback on the Gibson muffler. I went ahead and ordered one just now. It will make running the engine on the test stand a much more pleasant experience
I'm hoping to have the engine running again by the end of the month.
Brad"
I might as well give up posting

Now that's interesting. Just a minute ago I copied the text I tried to post previously into a message in a reply to Protagonist and got another message saying it was waiting for moderator approval!
Kinda weird that thanking someone for their recommendation as to what muffler to buy would trigger a moderator approval flag.

Is it a domestic muffler, or "foreign?"

So this thread shows up in their "Daily Picks" email! How 'bout them apples?. May be a different moderator who chooses the list vs. responding.

That wasn't, by any chance, an assault muffler?

Hmmmm
Is a muffler the same as a silencer?

I think, bkahler, you should pm one of the mods on duty who appear at the bottom of the Portal page....and ask them.
If there is a problem, they will tell you. That is the most sensible and logical thing to do, in my opinion.
If it is just a glitch in your computer giving you that message, then you will know.
One of the rules here is to not openly criticize the actions of the mods, so be careful out there.
Maggie

Yes it is weird that this would trigger a hold on your post.
We are reviewing this and will let you know what gives. As an aside, you are not likely to garner attention from the Staff lamenting about an issue in an open thread, you'll have better success using the "Contact Us" button located on the bottom of the page, or PM'ing a moderator.

Kevin, I don't believe I was lamenting about anything. Many forums moderate new users but after x number of posts they are released. Also most forums I am on don't have processes running in the background monitoring posts for some unacceptable words or statements. So when I commented "after 4000 posts that it wouldn't be necessary" was based on previous experience with other forums, nothing more.
I just checked the Contact Us button at the bottom and all it did was take me to the Portal. The last time I needed moderator assistance I posted in this forum and help arrived.
Brad
