Mobile App Changes
In the coming days forum access via the mobile app will be discontinued and we wanted to make you aware of some other options so that your surfing won't be interrupted.
Our forums software already has a mobile view with this same functionality. Use a browser to access the forum instead of the app. Transitioning to this view on smaller screens is straightforward and we'll add convenient links at the top of the page to help you navigate to the mobile-friendly view. You will find those links right at the top of the list of forums as you log in. Click the desired link to toggle the view.
In the coming months, we'll be moving to new software (exciting details soon) so this current change is a temporary one. Deprecating the mobile app has been a difficult choice but we are taking this step in an abundance of caution as security concerns for this aging platform increase. We take member privacy seriously and believe that the inconvenience caused by this change is outweighed by broader privacy issues. Thanks for understanding.
Example of new links location coming in a few days:

Oh my!
Thanks for the info Janet. Could you expound on that just a bit.
I currently use AirForums on both my Android phone and my Android tablet. The app stays signed in or on whatever the terminology is. I just tap the icon to enter and surf away (way to much)
I seldom need to visit AirForums on my laptop computer but occasionally when I am trying to attach an older photograph that is only stored on my laptop. I always sign onto the site then and log off when done.
Based on your example it looks like I will still be able to choose a mobile view but how will that work. Will I be redirecting it to my phone.
I should probably just wait and figure it out but clearly I'm addicted and concerned about my fix [emoji4] ahead of running out.

Using a browser on your phone, navigate to the site. You may want to bookmark the site. Choose the mobile view. The main difference here is that you will be opening the site in a browser instead of the app. Once you choose the view you should be all set.

Thank you.
Sounds easy enough thx for the extra info. We'll see how it transitions and like you said it's temporary with more good things to come.

Good evening
I am not one to normally chime in. And I hope to be wrong on this one.
We use the mobile app almost exclusively. We did use the browser mobile version of the website prior to downloading the app and found the constant bombardment of pop-up ads almost unbearable. We were happy an app was available. And with no pop up ads.
I hope this change will be good for the community and forum itself. However all the ads are a bit much and I fear may push people away. Hopefully this would be something addressed in the new website changes.
Just wanted to point out some opportunities for improvements.
Thanks

Ha.
I get it. Everyone needs to make a buck. Ads.. ok. Ad banners..ok. whatever...ok
But constart popup ads that are a quarter of the screen or more and need to be closed so you can see what your trying to read. A bit much.

If you pay the optional annual $20.00 support fee you get no ads on the site once you log in.

Nice. A path forward.
I appreciate the information. I was not aware of that.
I do like the app better, though. Would pay the 20 to keep that format vs. the website. All well.[emoji1787]
Thanks again for the information.

So I tried out the new method of opening AirForums.
On my Android tablet, I opened or navigated to AF through my brower (Chrome). I then signed into AF and then chose the mobile view. It wasn't near the overall view that the app gives. I did not have a choice of "subscribed" in the mobile view, but I could see new posts. If I chose the full view versus mobile view, I could select in the drop down to go to subscribed threads.
All change is hard, but this will certainly be far more steps for me and those using the current app.
With the upcoming changes and updates I hope an app is planned for use in the future again. Of course, the security of the site and members is foremost. I certainly don't speak computer so I will have trust the site team to make those decisions.
I just know that the app was easy and very convenient, so I'm just spoiled.

Air Forum iPhone app not working?
My Air Forum app on my iphone asked me to enter my credentials for the first time in months this afternoon and after repeated attempts, kept giving me login failed message. I'm able to log in on my laptop but not on the iphone app. Is the app currently down?

Not really. I missed that announcement too. Android app turned into a pumpkin yesterday too.

But, I don't see that mobile view banner. Is there a way to make it more phone friendly?

I suspect you've overlooked the information in Post #1

Took me a while to find mobile view too. Can't tell you how I got there... just started clicking around, selected menu, who knows what... finally found the headings that Janet referred to in Post #1. Now it's at least readable on my phone but still not used to the interface. Janet indicates the software will be changing soon so I'm hoping for better things in the future.
In some ways I didn't like the mobile app compared to the desktop interface - probably mostly because I don't understand smart phones very well - maybe the upcoming software upgrade will be just the ticket.

Yeah, I can't seem to find that mobile view. The blue banners aren't there when logging into the site from Google. Maybe Janet can help?
