Do we have a choice? My Air Forums (ios) app got updated to what I have to assume is Taptalk. Everything changed after that. I don't see anything different in the App Store.

I haven't looked in the iOS App Store for this, but if you had the AIR Forums app before it should have updated to the new version of the same app. It really sounds like you have Tapatalk somehow, though - the B190 site is in Tapatalk (I know because I put it there), but I'm pretty sure AIR Forums isn't. This is the AIR Forums app on iTunes; this is Tapatalk.

The new app is sideloading (I believe that is the term) Taptalk as part of the upgrade (Tapatalk BYO). I know that the Android app is working very well, many of the issues from the old one are gone. Hopefully the iOS will get ironed out soon. FWIW with the last upgrade of iPhones I still have 2-3 apps that aren't playing well at all. Not sure what Apple did...

but is has been a pain. I use Android, but have to play tech support for my bride's Apple basket.

Prior updates to Air Forums (ios) since I started subscribing didn't bring any substantial changes in appearance or user interface. With all the discussion about TapTalk, it led me to believe this is what the update brought to me. It is considerably different, as if it were a completely different app. The switch from blue to red is only the 1st indication that something significant changed. I'm confused if there are supposed to be 2 apps for ios as I'm not finding that, And I also haven't figured out how to make changes to my profile from within the app either. Aside from that most everything else fell into place once I had time to explore it.

The generic tapatalk app is for accessing various online forums that use the tapatalk plugin but don't make their own customized version of tapatalk.

If you download a current version of the AIRForums app from either of the stores (Apple or Android) you should get the customized tapatalk that's branded as the AIRForums app.

Two features that don't seem to work at all: Participated and Search. Participated always returns nothing. Search never finds anything at all, no matter what term I use. Am I doing it wrong?

Same here, if it's supposed to work I haven't figured it out either. (IPad2 IOS 7.04)

I have the same problem with the search function. It never returns anything. It seems to not actually do a word search, but instead is only searching "topics". I loved the air forum app on my ipad, but this new version is far less useful unless I am doing something wrong. Where did the "current" tab go?

Foe me, most avatars are little square smiley faces, although once in a while one will come through. The ones that do show up appear to be generic Airstream stock photos rather than custom ones...

Has anyone else experienced crashes in the IOS App? I have had several recently and it allows me to send a crash report with data it collected to Taptalk. Hopefully someone is using that info. It crashes on me when I am composing a post or a reply. All is lost and has to be re-entered. 😩

The new iOS App is junk. I cannot click on a link.
Therefore, to upload pictures from Canopener, I have to sync photos to my home computer, then click on the link and upload the photos- an extra unnecessary step-
Someone needs to get on the ball to fix this ragged piece of junk.
The previous App was soooo much better.

My iPad App hasn't changed. It is the same. It is the iPhone App that is such a hunk of junk.
My iPad is the original iPad- cannot be updated to iOS 7- may be the reason the Airforums App is the same as it has been- has not been "updated".
Everything new and improved ain't necessarily good or better...
Typing on the iPad is annoying- hard to hit the space bar without hitting the m, n, or comma-

Count that as a blessing, at least in this case. There are times I wish Apple would let the end user roll back to a previous version of an app that has gone wrong and I guess it would be possible if one had a backup copy of the prior version.

As it is, I am very angry with Apple (and all manufacturers as far as that goes) for "planned obsolescence".
You buy a very expensive device.
It still works perfectly.
The manufacturer changes everything about it- operating system, software

If I expect to post more than a quick entry, I use the web interface.

I have an iPad Air and an iPad 1. They both work fine, though there are indeed new apps that won't run on the old iPad, which cannot be upgraded to the latest iOS version. Annoying.
