Karma System Update
I wanted to let you all know that we have decided to remove the ability to leave negative karma. We (the admin/mod team) discussed this and determined it was not really useful and in some instances was abused or added fuel to an already sticky situation. So from now on, your can only give positive Karma to our fellow AIR members.
Thanks for understanding!
Andy

I totally agree with this decision. There is enough negativity in the world and there should be no place for it on these forums.

THis is a positive site! I am sure there is a way to handlal any rogue post without negative karma. I expect deserving post find their way into an alternate post universe.

way to go andy and all! this site is, and should be about the positives! it is an unfortunate reality that in all aspects of life there are some people who thrive on the hurt of others. i am proud that you have taken a stand for basic kindness and goodness. of course, after personally dealing with you a couple of times i would have expected no less from you. you are a gentleman and a friend! positive karma to you!!!

As Lynn said....I wasn't aware you could send negative Karma. Wouldn't want to anyway. Glad it is official. Good Karma to all.

Darn Andy - at least give us a window of oppertunity to sling some before the door shut..... - Now what am I going to do with the "list" I have on my desk?????? Oh well - back to reading posts - I do think this is a positive thing and happy to see the change.
Do you get to keep the historical negitive Karma if you have some - sorta the "Badge of Honor".......

Good move! Let's leave the "negative karma" to the WBCCI.

Great idea, Andy. If I want to leave negative karma I'll get an aluminum voodoo doll shaped like an airstream and put dents in it.

In the early days of the forum, the karma system was a little bit different and I truly didn't understand it. I thought it was some kind of post/thread rating thing. After I figured it out, I really felt bad that I'd left bad karma and I stopped doing it.
So, Good move! , Andy. Thanks for ridding our ASforum lives of the bad karma.

In my early days posting here someone left me bad karma. Since I was only asking a question, I sent them a PM asking why. They couldn't remember why . Glad to see negative karma gone there is enough negativity in the world already.

I get enough negative karma from my neighbours when the sun glints off my Airstream and through the trees, across the creek, and directly into their kitchen . Payback for their late night partah's, per chance.....
Good idea Andy, as always it just keeps getting better and better...

Are you sure this won't result in some un-intended consequences?
1. Will I tend to be more "rude" in my postings because I no longer fear the bad karma?
2. Will people be more likely to repond with a nasty posted reply, rather than just send someone a private little shot of negative karma?
3. Will we see more ugly PMs, with more specificity than just a little negative karma?
4. Won't the moderators have more work trying to referee personal tifs, that previously could be handled with a little negative karma?
6. Will there be more Warn Meter activity as a result?
7. I think there is a certain balance to having both positive and negative karma. Its kind of a Yin-Yang thing. With no negative karma, the positive karma becomes worth less.
And finally, who ever got any negative karma anyway? I only got hit a couple of times, and one time it was by mistake. So what's the big deal?
I've never given anyone negative karma, but I will defend to the death (or at least a few bruises) the right of others to dish it up.

Accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative.
Good move, Andy and mod squad.
