OK - here goes:

Your karma points are simply your accumulated karma score. Other users can't see your karma score.

Your karma power dictates how many points are given when you award some one else karma points. This number varies for each user and is calculated thusly...

One power point for every 250 posts
One power point for every 50 points of karma score
One power point for every 365 days joined to the forum

Other things you might want to know about karma:

Each new user receives 10 points upon registering.
You cannot give karma until you have made at least one post.
You cannot give karma if your karma point total is less than 5.

Crystal clear right...

Deleated Donors

Here's the ? When I look at my karma chart I notice it has a list of donors. As I receive more points the donors at the bottom of the list are deleated. This is without my consent!I rely on these donors to keep me going day to day- they are my friendlies!. I had been thinking about putting them all on my buddie list- as soon as I could guess how to do that-but suddenly they are gone. I'm sad about this as when I was a fng here I was encouraged early on to contribute as best I could. Now they are gone- I want my donors back. How can this shattering fault be corrected?? They have not been deleted. The points they shared with you are still in your karma score. What has gone is the comment they left. The forums software only show a finite number of comments and so, as new ones are added, the old ones drop off the list.

Hope this helps explain...

...and even then, they aren't really gone, they just don't show up on your UserCP page. It's kinda like the portal page, they just drop off from being visible, showing only the most recent comments.

Does that mean that the comments are available somewhere, if you know how to access them?

If not, is there a way to archive certain ones that may contain information or a comment that you want to retain? Kind of like keeping certain PM's.

One more karma question. One of the members did not have a karma icon to click on, I was unable to give him any. Is that due to his set-up or is it a fluke?

Thanks for all the info,
Dave

No, not currently for members, only forum administrators can access them.

You can periodically do a screen shot to archive them for yourself...or an administrator can do it for you, it's kinda cumbersome, but if you PM me can do it.

Sounds like a fluke...I don't think you can give karma if you have never posted before or if you have negative karma (an overall negative number)...but other than that everybody should be able to give & receive karma. If this shows up again, let an admin know & we can look into it.
