How do you insert a photo into your profile?
I've seen some great photos come up when people respond to discussions.
For the life of me, I can't figure out how to do it...
Help!

Same question here. It asks for a URL. Why can't we just insert a picture?

There's a line just below the line asking for a link, it will let you search your hard drive and then upload a profile pic
Maybe you're asking about your signature line???
Same area of the user control panel

So I take it that you can't insert a photo using your iPhone.

There are 2 different things here, by the way. There's your profile photo that shows up just when someone actually goes to your public profile to read up about you (mine is a photo of me in a green coat and an Airstream cap.) Then there's your avatar, which is the one that shows up on each of your posts (mine is a photo of my dog, Trudy asleep on a red sofa.)
The max size of your avatar photos is 120 pixels by 120 pixels, which is quite small by modern online photo standards but it keeps the servers from having to create a thumbnail all the time, they can just display the actual image.
The profile picture is also somewhat constrained, it can only be 400x400 so you may be trying to use a photo that's too big and it's being ignored.
The Android app appears to offer me a way to upload an avatar photo from my Profile screen, but I didn't try to do it because I don't want to change mine. I don't know if it would automagically reduce the photo to the acceptable dimensions or just barf if I try to upload a bigger one. I didn't see a place in the Android app to do anything at all about a profile photo.

Are you using the regular website or the mobile app for iPhone?
Regular website:
-Click "Go Advanced" and follow the prompts.
iPhone mobile app:
-Click the photo icon between the blank area for your message and the keyboard, choose a picture, and touch "upload" for existing pictures already on your phone, or-
-Click the camera icon to the left of the picture icon and take a picture.

I am not aware of a way to enter a profile picture or avatar picture from an iPhone, but there may be a way.
From the regular website, User CP, and then Edit profile or avatar.
You can access the regular website from an iPhone or iPad.

Thanks for all the great advise. If I can figure out a way to make a photo on my iPad smaller, I'll get it uploaded...

I have been going back and forth with the site gerbils and I finally had the site admit that profile pics and avatars cannot be loaded right now. The gerbils were going to kick the problem up to the guinea pigs to see if they could find out what is causing the problem. Hopefully the site will find the problem as I want to upload my awesome avatar pic 😎.

As of today it would appear that the Guinea Pigs (Programmers) have been able to resolve the issues with loading user profile pics and Avatars. Thanks to the persistent Gerbils (Support Techs) for working with me to identify and ultimately help with the solution.

You must be a geocacher too eh rmkrum? I have been waiting for a moderator to approve a post I put up with a video around 4:30pm today. Taking soooo long. Hopefully it gets up soon or the joke will have passed. I did not know that links had to be approved.

I find it rather odd that someone who uses the site at no cost to themselves, has the audacity to refer to the site team as gerbils and Guinea pigs. Since the site is so bad, perhaps these talented but unhappy folks should create their own forum. After all, why waste your time here.

How do you insert a photo into your profile?
Hey, there are worse things I've been called as a system administrator, professional computer wrangler and Nerd Knob twiddler.
Just remember that the system administrator is also known as ghod when it comes to system stuff, and you are on the system with his/her permission.
Search the Internet for the "system administrator song" by the group 'three dead trolls in a baggie'.
And say Nice things to your system administrator.....😄 (or else...insert evil laugh here)

Lol, it can be a little frustrating learning the rules and navigating around this forum. Certainly no intent to offend here. I emailed the folks that resolved the avatar and profile issue and thanked them for their assistance PLUS I publicly thanked them in a post above.

Thank you for doing that! Yes, learning how these forums work can be a challenge. Being an admin or moderator can be frustrating, too. Sometimes it's not easy to find the root cause of an issue, and I know the team always wants to provide good service to their user community.
