Giveaway - Comments & FAQs

This thread has been created for folks to comment in regarding our giveaways. Basically you need to discuss the give away here because the give away thread will be for entering and folks only get one post on that thread to enter. So if you have questions post them here. We will then consolidate the questions into this first post allowing us to build a FAQ for future reference.

I posted a comment on the $1000 thread and then deleted it because I wanted to post an "entry". Forum will not allow additional posting on the thread, despite my deletion :-(

Two questions:

- May I assume that regular shipping costs apply?
- Are Canadians eligible to participate?

1) How will winners be notified?

2) Will the winners be identified and listed somewhere on the forum April 16th?

3) Are there any advertising obligations (name, pics, etc.) beyond word-of-mouth, or beyond the forum, attached to winning?

4) Clarity please regarding these rules:
- Members who wish to select merchandise of higher value than the Giveaway limit may do so; and agree to pay the difference.
- No purchase is required to enter.

Does this mean posting $750 worth of merchandise to enter obligates the winner of either 2nd or 3rd place to purchasing said items and paying either $600 or $650 to receive the awarded certificate; e.g., no purchase required to enter but a purchase required to win the certificate?

Winners will be sent a Private Message and the winning names (forum username) will be posted to the contest thread a day or two after the end of the contest.

If I understand correctly... the answer is no. Basically, you have to post links to win. If you win, you receive a certificate/credit for the stated value of the prize and can use it for whatever products you select up to the value of the certificate. If your product choices exceed that value, you pay the difference. Posting links is not a commitment to purchase.

Curious About Disqualifications

If an entry does not have URL's (links) or somehow doesn't meet the qualifications for the contest will their entry be deleted from the thread or will their post number simply be out of consideration if that post number was selected by random.org

I don't know that it matters to me. I'm not sure if deleting the post or removing it from consideration changes the "odds" one way or another. Just curious since I noticed several posts that don't seem to meet the qualifications at this point.

Regarding the posts that don't have links... the rules indicate the person making the post can notify the administrators (I presume to correct their links). If that's the case I guess it makes sense to leave the post in the thread, anticipating the person making the post will realize their error and ask an administrator to make the correction.

On the current Intermountain promotion, is it one entry per house hold or one entry per Air Forums member?

Thanks,

I would recommend NOT USING RANDOM.ORG. It's not so random, and a number of threads across the internet have pointed out the glitches. You can observe yourself by having it generate 20 random numbers for you between 2 and 100.

The first & last few numbers are less likely than others to be elected.

Random.org usually rarely picks the first and last numbers in the range one sets in the randomiser box, so to make the contest fair for all I start numbering the entrants in the thread at 7. Then when I go to random.org I set the range starting at 1. (If the randomly chosen number is 1-6 I roll it again.)

(I could use any number beyond 2-3, I guess, but I like the number 7 for some reason.)

I also add a buffer at the opposite end. If the last entrant in a contest is numbered 26, for example, I add another 6 to the maximum range I set at random.org.

(In this example i'd set 1-32 as the range at random.org, with the numbers 1-6 and 27-32 being buffers and the actual entrants being the other numbers from 7-26.)

If you've responded to the give-a-way thread and think you've posted the correct information be sure to double-check you've complied with the rules. If I understand the rules correctly, there are several posts that do not meet the guidelines. I think you still have a limited time to have your post corrected before the drawing. I think moderators can correct your post if there's a problem. Then again, I may not understand the rules!

Lightbulb Make a Video?!

Will you guys attempt to make a video of yourselves clicking the randomizing button?! Maybe have a person off camera verify if they are winners by having qualifying posts, or hit it more than 3 times, anticipating that there will be some that don't qualify... Just a thought...

Do I have to buy what I linked?

1) If I post links to more than what I win, can I pick different items later? I mean to say, if I pick a $550 AND some $100 items, if I win 2nd place, I can buy the lower priced items without having to purchase the $550 item, right?

2)Or can I just start from scratch if I win??!

***I guess you guys answered this. it would be 2)yes...?
