If you want to run the A/C, then the most common setup is a Honda EU2000i run in parallel with a Honda EU2000 Companion. Both are lightweight and sip gas.

There are 3000 watt generators that will run most everything but they are heavier.

Mike is correct. Their is also Yamaha brand that can be run in parallel, can't go wrong with either choice. Don't make the mistake I did a few years back, buying a cheaper 3000W because it was less expensive, be smart & buy the best.

I run a single Yamaha EF2400 ishc, it works for me. 70 pounds, easy to handle, quiet, compact, and fuel efficient.Click image for larger version

Since I am a miser, kinda anyway, the price for one Yamaha seemed more in line with my expectations than the price of two Hondas.

Brevi tempore!

The paired Honda's, or Yamaha's, are a good plan. Each unit weighs about 50 lbs. -- their combined weight is less than one 4000 watt unit. Also, if one of them won't start or otherwise fails, you've still got 2000 watts that'll run the TV's and about everything else but the AC and maybe the microwave.

However, take a look at the 3000 watt Yamaha. It has the ability to put out more than 3K watts on a short-term basis to start the AC. ...but it's heavy.

Take a look at genset.com for more advice.

But if all you want to do is charge the batteries then a 1000 watt Honda or Yamaha will be all you need. As strictly a battery charger, the 1000 watt units are just as fast as a 2000 watt unit since the batteries can only take a charge at a certain rate which is way below what a 2000 watt generator can put out. The 1000 watt generators are quieter, lighter and less expensive than the 2000 watt models.
