I have reverted to laptop internet access, cluttered with ads as it is. This change is a real disappointment, as the prior iPad app was very good.

My iPad app is still the old one- maybe because I still have the original iPad that can no longer get any software updates- a nasty trick to try to make everyone buy a new iPad.
My iPhone app, on the other hand, is absolute junk for all the reasons I and others have already stated. How long will it be until the app acts/looks like the previous really nice app? I can't get over the red instead of blue, the avatars and photos not loading, and the general poor GUI. The app should open already on "portal", which I think they call "timeline" now, like the desktop/laptop computer website. Everything new ain't necessarily good, better, or "improved"...

I agree 100%. The change to the IPAD app is a huge disappointment. It used to be a daily pleasure to check in on the "current" tab of the App just to keep up with the flow of the conversation. The tab is gone and the search function doesn't work at all. What a mistake to sacrifice the prior version of the app to supposed improvements in social networking....which I gather was the motivation for the change.

I guess we could all go back to using the regular website even from our iPads and iPhones. It took me a long time to use the apps anyway, even when they were good apps...

Yes...and I do go the internet version, but it is so full of ads now that I hate to do it. I just keep thinking that if the users insist, someone, somewhere will restore the lost functionality. It is always a mystery to me who is in charge of these things....but it looks like whoever did the decision making on this really got it wrong. I understand some roll out glitches, but this appears to be a wholesale overhaul of something that didn't need it. If this were a commercial site I would assume that the changes were driven by a desire to wring more money out of the website. But I thought this was a non profit thing.

Nope, we're all in the same boat.

It was recently pointed out to me that search works fine on the mobile apps if you're *NOT* logged in, but fails when you're logged into the app. I had never thought to logout and see if it improved!

This is clearly a bug and will hopefully be an easy fix for the next version.

Hmm. How does one logout? I wandered about looking to see how and then just removed the app and reinstalled it. I can confirm that search works if you're not logged in. Once you log in, search quits. I have to believe that someone must be working on these problems and an updated version is in the works.

In the iOS app you can logout from the "People" menu. In the Android app, when you tap the menu icon to see the various options, I the top bar there is a logout icon, it looks like an arrow pointing left from a door.

Now that you pointed out where it is, it's very obvious, don't know why it didn't smack me when I was looking for it. Thx.

I understand a patch for IOS users has been pushed out to address the search problems. Can anyone with an idevice confirm that the search function is working now (after the update)?

The search change seems to be a back-end patch. I didn't get an update for the app and there's none available, the app store shows the latest update is from 16 December (this is for an iPad 2 running iOS 7).

However, searching while logged in now works for me, and did not previously. I learned from another user (reinergirl?) that it was working fine previously if you were NOT logged in.

Wow, they snuck this one in on us... Just also confirmed Search as well as Participated are now functional on the iPad IOS 7.04. I'm concerned they may have introduced another glitch though. Starting about a week ago, I first saw this app crash. It happens after I've been on this app for awhile and may have composed a paragraph or two as a post or reply, then poof, the app and all the input vanishes. I do get a crash report that I email in, but having to re type everything is discouraging.

Do other folks have issues with the mobile app crashing on android? If I spend any time at all on the app I will experience at least 3 crashes in an hour. I click the button to report the crash but I have not heard anything back. Other applications seem to work fine on the Samsung tablet.

Your experience describes what I've been seeing recently on the IOS version, so this seems like its not device specific.
