In my case, you are correct. I get a daily email/digest of posts, and forgetting that I actually do have the app installed, I just start clicking on the listed topics. That's when the pop-ups start. I will try to remember to use the mobile app and see if the pop-ups diminish.

Overlander63 was dead on for my problem.

If you use the "view open tabs" in Safari on the IPad, you expose the private viewing option on the page header. All it takes is a misplaced finger on a five finger swipe and you enable "private viewing". When in private you get two indicators on the screen. Private becomes highlighted as black letters in a white field. Close all tabs in Safari and a message appears that tells you the consequences. Both are very easy yo ignore when you are in a hurry.

Did you change something overnight regarding that annoying daily pop up? I am using the main full site on an Apple iPad Mini, and have usually been able to log in with the pop up appearing only once, but I had the timing down so it worked for me.
I do not want to use the mobile app, but it seems as if you may be pushing people in that direction? I have not cleared my cache or deleted cookies, so I thought that the pop up was controlled by a new cookie each log in to prevent more than one pop up?
It is doubly troublesome this morning because I recently increased my password, per the site's suggestion, and it took ages to complete the log in.
Thanks for any feedback or suggestions, and for dealing with the recent DDOS attack. This is a great site!
Cheers,
Peter

Yesterday there was an update to the mobile app and it's likely that this was the cause of the 'nag'. Are you still having trouble after dismissing it?

Yes still having trouble on the iPad Mini. At home earlier the site was fine on my laptop. I am usually able to beat the new delayed pop up at home with a keyboard and mouse at the ready, even with the new longer password.
Now on the road, and the nag popped up 17-18 times in rapid succession after I quickly entered my user name. I was able to enter 3-5 characters of my password at times before the nag kicked in, which required Xing it away and starting again with the P/W. Finally I gave up with trying to enter the password and just focused on getting rid of the beast each time it popped up.
Finally it stopped popping up, and I was able to enter my new longer/safer password in one attempt.
"Nag" is certainly a good term !!!
Thanks,
Peter

Janet FYI I am in a different WIFI spot on the Mini still, and using the full main site. I cleaned cache and deleted cookies, and the pop up came up once or twice, so I waited for more but they never came, then I logged in without further incident.
Go figure . . .
Did you just change the code?
Thanks,
Peter
PS I assume you know there is a new pop up each time asking if I want to download the mobile app? Never! Can't stand any of the mobile apps. Period. [further rant postponed ]
Could you add something to the new pop up like "don't show me this window again" ?

FYI this continues, although the nag only popped up 7-8 times in a row this morning, using the main full site on the iPad Mini.
Have a good weekend.

Apologies also -- OT -- warning -- vent ahead . . .
I don't like the graphics of most mobile apps, and the over-simplified layout. They are like a cartoon version of the main site, intended for the growing number of I-net zombies walking around with mobile devices in their hands -- right in front of their noses and eyes -- pecking out their daily sustenance of thoughtless drivel on FarceBook etc..
Twitting away the days in brief bursts of boisterous bullsh..
Don't we aspire to be more than twits . . . ?
Give me a 15" monitor screen, a keyboard, mouse, landscape format -- like a printed page -- and good typing skills,
yeah
now we can communicate in depth about something . . .
And the graphic presentation of the information "looks right" . . .
And I can get up from the chair and leave behind the act of written communication for a while.
I guess that begins the conversation about mobile apps . . . thanks for asking.
PS -- "don't like change" is another phrase which comes to mind -- not quite a Luddite, but . . .

Back on the iPad FYI a couple of hours later, and the pop up appeared 4 times, then I was able to log in normally with the new longer password. I had deleted cookies and cleared cache at the end of the last session.

OTRA,
That explains it quite well and makes sense.
I have been using the app on a tablet and Android phone and have gotten really used to it. It is the first and almost only app I utilize.
Sometimes I also miss the expanded version but not to much anymore. I am rarely on a desktop computer anymore so if I sign onto Airforums it's feels quite cumbersome to jump from one thread to the next and lots of scrolling.
Thx

LOL!
All the reasons you don't like app versions are all the reasons I do like apps!
No ads!
Just the basics-

How do you get rid of this d--n pop up?
I've signed out and back in, it still shows up on every new page I open here.
I'm on an IPad mini, in Safari....which I prefer to the app.

The best advice I can give is to open up the forum, or any page you want to see, and wait for the pop up to open, then "X" it closed, then wait for it to pop up again, "X" it closed again, etc..
After a few minutes it seems to stop popping up on its own. The highest count was 17-18 pop ups in a row, then 6 or so, sometimes only 1.
When the popping up seems to have stopped, then try logging in. If the pop up comes up again in the middle of doing the password, "X" it out again, and start the password again from the beginning.
***** Very important IMO -- check the "Remember Me" box for each log in. *****
I am on a laptop now, but the last time I used the iPad Mini it did take some time to log in.
Good luck!

[still off-topic]
Thanks. For mainly tablet and phone use, the App makes sense I guess . . .
As an example of why I like using a computer, keyboard, mouse etc., please see Post No. 8 in the following thread. To convey the same amount of information using a phone or mobile device would be very difficult IMO!

Hopefully we will have some feedback from Janet or other Moderator about any tweaks they may have been making behind the scenes. I am guessing that we are not the only ones with hiccups, but the common thread of an iPad Mini is interesting, although maybe not relevant?
