We are going to be adding a news-style articles feature to AIR and need writers! If you are interested please PM a moderator for details. Articles could cover a wide variety of topics and have a few pictures (or not). Articles will be in a non-thread format, linkable from a new section. Over time we hope to build a great collection.

So... if you have any idea for topics or would like to author a couple of these let us know.

Some topics on the wish list already include:

Surviving the Dump Station
Airstreams & Pets
What do I really need to pack?
Preflight checklist
Winterization basics
Tire inspection, do it now!

Another category would be "Great Places to Camp". Unless this is already covered in another section of the forums.

Another topic might be,,, off the highway destinations,,, many wonderful places exist that are not a National Park. donna

Great idea! I would also like to see articles on Great Places to Camp. Maybe create a template for folks to "fill in" so all the necessary info could be available. Things like webpages (addresses) to campgrounds, cost, photos of what it really looks like, noise level, etc. Fun things to do nearby, and distance from major roads like Interstate 5 in the west.

How about recipies, food prep and cooking time for travelers.

Anyway, my two cents!

This is a great idea. It is neat to see the forums evolve into much more than it was just a couple of years ago. Thanks for doing this.

Perfect! The Airforum can only get better. DIY articles would be a great idea with photo documentation for those of us who are so visual. Andy and the Mod Squad should be congratulated for this new direction for the forum.

Thanks for getting the ball rollling on ideas for articles Janet. It will be really amazing to see features like this added to AIR this year.

Here are some other ideas for topics:

Restoration Projects - articles about their restoration projects at either a highlevel overview or an article for each step of the process.
Buying New - articles about what to look for when buying a new Airstream
Buying Used - articles about what to look for when buying a used Airstream
Rally Reports - articles that summarize a rally so those great moments can be archived forever!
Website tutorials - articles on how to use AIR Forums better
Lessons Learned - articles about things we did wrong to help prevent others from making the same mistakes.

This is a really exciting project and together we can make this another tremendous resource for the Airstream Communtiy. If you have more ideas for articles, please post them here (or heck, just start writing the articles and we will have a system to post them very soon).

Very soon, I have to put the finishing touches on the software and then we will roll it out. I will add a tab to the top of the page for articles but with time the goal will be to start moving some more of this content to the home page.

Given the number of vintage TV's being used by forum members perhaps an occasional piece by various owners on what works, what to look for in a vintage TV, and their on-the-road feedback/pictures.

I've written a few threads. one was about heaters, the other about replacing a key switch in my Burb. I actually got karma from folks for both posts. I'm thinking an area that members could go to and find good info is a worthwhile pursuit. I really think the "search function" needs help. I have recently participated in the reviews section. How about a few more catagories there- like grills-rain shelters- fuel additives- wetting agents etc. I'm talkin about informative reviews. And if someone has a new area possibly PM a mod and have a new catagory issued. Just a few thoughts Ireally do like the review section and think it could be a great resource if members were aware of it's existence. You'ld be surprised what I could write about! Keep tweakin it, it's getting better. Thanks DG

I agree with DG. I recently inserted my idea, with pictures, of an adapter to better mount the Sewer Solution to a rear bath dump connection. DG had just out a 'review' of an over the tanks bike rack so although my subject wasn't a 'review' per say I thought it would be a good place to place my idea for others. I got a couple of karmas and good comments.

The articles section is intended to be a new, supplemetal section and different in structure that the reviews section.
Here is an example from another site of how this will look when it's up and running. Contractor Talk Articles and of course it will be about Airstreams...

Claudia - Currently, there is no template. If you would like to become a regular contributor, you can register to be an author. If you would like to submit an occasional article, you can submit the text to a moderator and any images and we will format it for you (hopefully little editing will be needed). Article formats will be fairly simple.

Have you come up with a specialized list of "wanted" articles? I know there has been some discussion on this. Just wondering if anyone is generating a list of what would be liked as far as the group or Andy wants? Or is this more an open field, make a submission and see what happens?
