Classifieds Update/Accuracy
I may be a little picky but I messaged the Administrator of the Classifieds asking about the Advanced Search option - it hasn't been working - that person acknowledged the issue and said they are working on it. That's been a couple of weeks ago at least. When will it be fixed?
Second issue - I know of at least one unit that sold in July that is still listed on the Classifieds. If the individual is responsible for deleting the ad - please do so - it sure helps to narrow the search.
Thanks

Many classified posters join only to place an ad not to participate in the forums. They either have limited internet skills or do not follow up or monitor their ads. One way to alleviate both would be to require a certain number of forum post before being allowed to post a classified ad. This is very common on most all other forums.

Good idea on limiting the posting of an add without previous posting history. These one post 'for sale' adds are ones to be very careful on anyway.

Maybe at least make them reply to two administrator responses to their advertisement so they how to reply and where to respond.

We are working to improve search in classifieds and some updates have been made - more in progress.
Regarding ads for rigs that have been sold... Since members are responsible for their ads and we don't have a way to know if a rig has been sold unless notified, you can help by reporting the ad. We ask sellers to mark their ads as sold but as you have noted they often don't.
There is a report concern button on every ad and while it's primarily intended to report questionable ads, it could be used to report ads that are no longer current.

Thank you Janet. I will use that button on any I know are sold - especially the ones here in MN that I've looked at!
BTW - you seem to be using a platform that is very similar to another group I use, TUG (Timeshare Users Group). Their site is very busy and efficiently run. Do you know of them? Could they help you with your improvements to the site?

The other thing I don't understand is why this post - for example - wouldn't show up in "New Posts"? I normally log in and just click New Posts to see what's new. It strikes me as odd that this post (or the other ones I've posted) don't show up there. Now watch - this one will! Ha. We shall see.

Since you posted it, it isn't "new" to you. Therefore, the posts you make will never show up in "new posts".

Terry is correct, in that once you have read a post, or done a new one, it is no longer a "new" post for you....you will only see ones you haven't read/opened.
Also, posts by new members are moderated for awhile, meaning they go into a queue and are reviewed by one of the Site Team, before being approved and displaying on the board.
How long this takes depend on the time of day or night, and whether/how many of the Site Team are on the board to look at them.
This is to try to catch spammers, who sign up for membership and then post something with a link to a football game, underwear, cell phones, their businesses, etc.
It happens.
