Classified Ads Registration Question

I tried to do something (ask a follow up or somethin like that) over in the Classifieds and was told to register.
I made sure I was online over here on the forum and went back and was told same again.
Is the Classified part of the forums?
Isn't it owned & operated by Forum-Andy & his mods.

I guess it would not be wise to use the same password over there, eh?

I am not completely up to speed on the current software, but my understanding is that classifieds are run as a separate section, so yes you do have to sign in, however it uses the same sign in and password as the regular forum.

Exactly right. The login link is in the upper right corner. The classifieds software isn't seamless but the odd thing is if I log off over there, it'll log me off forums (at least with my browser settings). So, if I want to stay online at AIR, I just close the classifieds window when done.

That's happened to me a couple of times when we were asked if we wanted to renew our ad in the classified section... even if I was on line with the Forums, the classified section asked for a log in. As I understand it, the classifieds are a different section but under the same "umbrella" as the Forums.

That's rather odd..I was able to go back and forth with no sign in other than the original first time sign in..
For example..
I just now clicked on the classified button while on the forum and, the browser open a new link..went to the classified add section and, it shows me signed in..I was able to move all over the classified section with not a signle prompt to log or sign in..
I am using Firefox version 3.0.6, as if that makes any difference.
I clicked on a non specific ad and, was able to leave a comment or edit it under my sign in user ID..

Have you signed into the classifieds previously? You may have a cookie left from the previous visit. I tried it in Opera, IE7 and FF3 all required me to sign in on the first visit but not additional ones, unless I signed out.

Never even occurred to me as it's been quite awhile since I was there last..
Let me try..
OK, here's what I found..
I went back over.."logout" from the classified and, then came back here to the forum.
No sign in required during that process. Went back to the classified, aha..it asked for me to sign in..
Came back here after signing in..
So, apparently it keeps a cookie for quite some time..
Interesting that, since I know I have run a number of programs (at one time or another) to clear out cookie..
Guess the best cookie remover is located right at the browser itself..

I tried to log in using Forum info. ...won't work. I hesitate to reregister in fear of jamming up the whole system or loosing my previous info...What to do now? to be able to answer want ads? Thanks.

Melody Ranch, In the upper right corner on the Please register screen (After you select contact seller) you need to use the login tab. Then a screen comes up for you to enter your user name (mine already is in the block) and password (which is the same as your forums password). Hope this helps. Ed

Thanks, When I go to the log in page it is blank. When I put in my user name I get....
This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view.

Back to square one....? Any more ideas out there?

When you login be sure you have your username and password exactly right. They are case sensitive.
