Lightbulb Attaching a single picture to your post

If you want to attach a single picture to your post, you have to "prepare" the picture, prior to trying it.
If you don't, you will experience the frustration of loosing everything you just typed, after you hit submit.
the software just tells you the image is to large and punishes you with erasing everything you typed, when you hit the back button.
The problem starts with digital pictures. Often they are saved at a pixel size of 1280x960.
Way too big.
Load the picture in your favorite photo program.
Find the 'edit' (or image in photoshop) on the top of your window. you should see 'edit image size' or similar.
A window will open showing you the byte size, like 1280x960. Another common size is 640x480.
Still too big. The max is 600x450.
In some programs the height changes as you change the width. If not enter it yourself.
600x450 is still a large picture and takes longer for the viewer to load, but it works.
Try 400x300 or 200x150, if you wish.
Now save the image as xxxxx-medium.jpg or xxxxx-small.jpg, whatever applies.
All you need to remember now, is where you saved the image.
Try not to save it to Desktop, since you will not find it again.
Now you are ready to write your post and hit the browse button to attach a file.
Attention Netscape users:
After hitting browse, you have to change
Files of Type
on the buttom of the new window to 'All files' in order to see jpg's, gif's etc.

Inquiry about posting a picture

Peter: Thank you for your reply about my asking for assistance
in posting a single photo. (Your reply-- indicating that the picture
was too large).

The picture size in question was
in pixels 252X252....That is considerably less than the
maximum size you mention in your message above.

I clicked Browse, found picture and the file location showed
in the little window on the A/S site....I previewed it, but the pic
did not show up on the Preview. I sent the message and it
did not show up in the message. I tried again and same
results.

I'm going to send it again in this message.

Just curious about what I may be doing wrong. Thank you for any input you care to send. Bye. Francey

Resubmitting photo

Peter:
I am sending the picture with this note.
My actions:

BROWSE
Select photo: Just Pooks
Open it: It shows up in Browse window below.
Click: Submit Reply.

I KNOW WHAT I DID WRONG, NOW.......I didn't wait....for
the picture to upload. When it didn't show up on the preview,
and didn't instantly show up on the message I assume it
wasn't working. Thank you for the successful solution.

Thanks. Francey

I'd be asking for a fiberglass boom on the bucket.

it is, good for 100,000 volts per inch!

ours are tested for this every six months.

still gotta wear rubber gloves and sleeves for phase to phase contact. (20,000 volt)

Photo Size

Why do my photos always appear HUGE in my posts? Others seem to be able to post a reasonably sized photo.

For examples, go to the beginning of the Now Lets See You! thread.

Huge: 68 Suburban and Smily.
Smaller: RoadKingMoe and airstreamcaravel.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

pixels

Well if you look at the photos, right click each and go to properties, it will show you the size of the picture. Some of those are pretty big. Diana's on the other hand is sized at 206x288 which is a good size for the page, mine on the other hand is 500X333 which I should have resized down more (duhhhh).
The right click function gives you an idea of how they vary in pixel sizes.

I'm usually better than this

I tried to append a 33kb image to a post, but the image wasn't in the preview window. Yes, I did wait until the "done" appeared in the status bar.

I'm trying to add it to this post, which I will not preview.

I've never tried to post a picture on this forum.

This, by the way, is the interior of a new Safari.
