Angry Airstream Labyrinth / Time limit on Post Composition ??

Is there a time limit to complete the composition of a post?

I was taking my sweet time just now, after having copied a long quote, and shuffling books to help in my posting and when I looked back up at screen it was wiped cleaner than Hillary's memory!

Sorta takes the want-to outa goin thru the motions.
I love this place but damnd if I don't sometime think it's a little too cute by half.
Sometimes I think it oughta be called the Airstream Labyrinth!

This sorta dovetails in with Uwe's posting regarding Review Woes.
Whazzup??

There are no timeout limits on having the Post/Reply form open that I am aware of. I have done the same as you mention with out any problems. Not saying it can't happen. Just has not happended to me. I always seem to be in the middle of a post and get called away and return to finish it. Sometimes overnite.

When we had the SpellCheck plugin installed, it caused all kinds of problems. Hence it was removed.

I think something else is occuring right now and I have emailed the webmaster.

Are you on a dialup or broadband (cable/DSL) connection?

The tiumeout you got was most likely the standard "session timeout" caused by the server. Most servers are configured with either a 10 or 15 minute timeout - its both a bandwidth/user as well as security feature that frees up the servers resources. For long writes the best thing to do is do a copy of the text - hit refresh - select yes when prompted for retry and then paste things back in...

Something's up, still

Hex,
I have not experienced the timeout, but I have had other strange things happen, like hitting the submit button, but never finding the reply in the thread I was in, or getting an e-mail for a subscribed thread, but there is no new reply when I click the link. I am going to write this off to my inability to deal with computers for now. Maybe that's what's up.
I am appreciative, nevertheless, of having this site work as well as it does.

Thanks, John.
i will try it next time this happens.
I figured out what happened one of the times.
It's embarrassing, though. It was one of your threads, and it had 2 pages, but I did not realize it and kept looking at the bottom of the first page...........ouch! Someone should take these computers away from me!
