access my photos to download from icloud?
I'm trying access my icloud photos and be able to download or link to a thread I have created here. All of my photos and videos are from my phone which go to icloud... can anyone help with this process?
Or on the other hand, if all my photos are on my iphone, and I create thread entries from my computer, how do you access the photos on your iphone?
Thanks!

From a computer, to add pictures to a post you have 2 choices. In the toolbar top row you will see a paperclip. If you click on that you can search your hard drive for the picture you want to attach and post. In the next row down there is an icon with mountains and yellow background. If you click on that you can enter the URL of the picture you want to include.
I can't tell you about an iPhone but if you're using the Airforums app, when you post or reply to a post there is an icon in the post to let you select a photo from your phone or take a picture. You can also add an attachment.
You can open a browser window (Safari?), go to the Airforums site and log in, then proceed like you're on a computer (first paragraph).
If you have photos in the iCloud, if there is a way to let people view them using a URL then you can use a computer to insert the picture. Otherwise, you have to download the picture(s) and use the paperclip to attach them.

Hi
The gotcha with the normal Apple setup isn't iCloud. It's that the Apple Photos app gobbles everything up just about as soon as the picture comes in. It then stuffs them away in a monolithic "library".
To get the photo back to a jpeg you need to go into Photos and select the picture you are after. You then go up to the menu bar under the "file" tab and click "export". You want to export one photo ( the one you just selected). You can pick various formats. Give it a name and save it to your desktop.
Now you have an image that can be uploaded to the forum.

Does the iPhone have an option to automatically do this? On my Samsung Galaxy photos app there is an option to "Convert HEIF images (to jpg) when sharing". So if you share, forward, extract, etc. it's automatically a jpg.

Hi
In the camera app on the phone you can pick how to transfer the pictures. Part of that lest you decide on a format. You could email them as jpeg's for instance. The gotcha is that there is no (obvious to me) way to go straight to a file in a folder.
If you get it on to your computer pretty much every storage app in the world wants to helpfully gobble pictures. Apple's approach is to grab them with the Photo app. Once that happens, there is no "file in a folder" to grab. (Yes, it's there, getting to it, identifying it, reformatting it, ... not easy at all).

My understanding of the Samsung photo app is that the pics are stored on the phone in HEIF format. For a while Google had a cloud storage that would work with the Google photo app (also on the phone) that would automatically upload a copy of your photos to the cloud, but the original stayed on the phone. Google is dropping that cloud storage now. When Google dropped the cloud backup the Samsung photo app replaced the hard delete with moving the picture to a trash can.
If you didn't choose the option to convert the photo from HEIF to jpg then it was a pain for anyone you sent the photo to. They had to have a converter. By setting the flag you automatically shared a jpg.
In any event it doesn't sound simple for iPhone users to upload pictures. I use my laptop anyway, much easier for me.

I upload photos from my iPhone or iPad all the time without changing the format.
Look at “Additional Options” below the message window and select “Manage attachments”. Click on the first button and choose Photo Library. Select a photo and do it again for the next one. Don’t forget to click “Upload” then “Close window” to get back to your message. Click Preview to see how your post looks.
Good luck!

I don't see that option on my Windows laptop or my Android phone, so that's what we've needed, some pics of the options. Thanks for your help.
