Question Drain tube above battery in a '67?

Does any one know where the drain tube goes to that comes down from the top of the battery/electrical access door on my 67 Caravel? Just wondering. I am sure I'll find out when the skins come out in the spring. But curiosity is killing this cat.
Thank you

Batteries give off some hydrogen gas during charge/discharge process. Most installations have a vent to carry this off so it can't build up an explosive mixture. Hydrogen is lighter than air, so this vent should go up from the battery. That's what we have on our '66 Safari.

Is that what you're looking at? Pictures would help.

I noticed the same tube in my 67' GT. We were guessing that it may have been added for an AC unit. I don't have an air conditioning unit on the top of my Airstream, but it was our best guess.

Someone will come along and verify for us!

On our 70 I heard that it came with a plastic cover over the battery that had a vent tube to the outside of the trailer. Ours comes to a small wire vent under the license plate.
