I just stumbled across this thread and am delighted to find someone else trying to rejigger the old
Caravel floor plan to put the bed in the rear. Our '66 floor, frame, axle and belly pan were all professionally restored and we now have an empty trailer with gray water tanks in the frame fore and aft of the axle.
We are determined to put the bedroom in the rear so we can have a queen size bed that can either be converted to a couch or left open without blocking the traffic path or the door. We in the planning stages of the layout but want to move the galley to the street side, use a dropleaf table and folding chairs on the curb side for a dinette and move the toilet and shower to the front. The big hangup at the moment is finding a way to retrofit the existing one-piece molded fiberglass shower/toilet/sink into the front and to route the plumbing. I fear we will have to abandon that idea and build a custom bath.
