How far should I go with this.

Now that I've got the interior of the 74 taken apart I'm wondering if I should go ahead and replace all the ABS pipe and fittings. It's not like I don't have plenty of other things to do, or that I see anything wrong with what is in there now. Some people have told me they have had trouble with old ABS glue fittings leaking in their house plumbing. I already plan on changing out the copper to Pex.

In general have any of you folks had problems with 30 or 40 year old ABS?

I haven't heard of people having trouble with those, and mine are still fine. But if you're doing everything else and it makes you feel better to know everything is new, at least you have good access right now.

No problem with the ABS drain and vent pipes, though plenty of problems with the copper stuff. You're replacing that anyway.

I have a couple of days to ponder on this. There is no sign of leaks anywhere. Only thing is,the more I look around I've come to the conclusion who ever glued it up to begin with was more than a little cockeyed. Either that or they were in a hurry.
