Rivet New Acquisition 1965 Safari

Thank you Forum members! ... now on to the next one.
An ALL ORIGINAL 1965 Safari is mine now!

To personally celebrate my # 100 post I acquired another project. I have posted the first pictures of my 'New-Baby' in driftwood's photo gallery here in the Forum.

I certainly am thankful for all the guidance I have recieved within this Forum and appreciate all the advice and direction contributing individuals have provided by responding directly to my queries.

My first was only 20 years old and I've kept it original less the wooden floor. Now I'm going into a 40 year old. I'm sure to need expanded direction on this one.

Again, thanks for all the help !!!!! Now on to the new journey

Congratulations! Looks like it has a really nice skin...The old safaris are a really nice size. It looks like you got a sweet looking trailer.

What's the inside like (I don't see any pics)? What do you think you'll work on first?

Mary

Mary,

What do I work on first??? Good question!

I saw it, bought it, and towed it home ... that's all the time I've spent on it besides the three hours I took to completely survey the unit before I paid for it. (I needed to know exactly what I was going to put my arms around!) Have not had the chance to clean anything & it has been sitting for three years.

Maybe tomorrow I'll start cleaning and begin the 'punch list'. Do they still make legal length note pads!

After cleaning I'll post some interior pix ... the dark wood interior looks so good, even unclean.

I am sure I'll also be posting a shopping list.

Cool Unreal !

First order of business --- check for leaks.

All night heavy rain last night and early morning inspection to determine the location and extent of leaks.

Is it possible that an unrestored 40 year old Airstream has NO LEAKS?

Well, I inspected every penetration the skin has, twice, three times - unbelievable! NO LEAKS.

I was amazed, and pleased
