Hi! new with a 1965 Safari Land Yacht

I figured I better sign myself up for a membership now that I am the owner of a 1965 Safari Land Yacht. I imagine many hours will now be spend data mining these forums as I embark on my restoration journey.

My wife and I have been wanting a trailer for some time and got real serious about looking a couple of weeks ago due to a local trailer for sale that was "ready to go". Well, for one reason or another we didn't buy it, but the fire was lit and evenings in front of the TV included searching the internet for trailers for sale.

Last week a '65 Safari showed up on Ebay, in the five minutes watching it there were two bids....we said screw it and hit the buy it now button, and I tugged it home on Saturday. We've cleared the inside and are ready to start step by step (surely painful at times) the process of restoration.

So I guess this is a hello and fair warning for many questions, dumb question, and of course many pictures of progress.

ps, I love wine and whiskey and grilling/smoking/curing all sorts of meats and wild game and am happy trade for services for those of you that live in the SF Bay Area.

I guess that is why Tamara and I keep buying AS's. We just have to have a project. Please show us more pics.

If it is at all fit to camp in, consider signing up for the Casini Ranch rally in mid April. A lot of Bay Area folks will be there, as well as some out of towners. The food is good, the crowd congenial and the range of Airstreams and knowledge phenomenal.

There are over 40 Airstreams signed up to attend, from old to new, in-progress to pristine. It's a great chance to get ideas and put faces to forum names.

Welcome to the forums. I have a 66 TW and love it.

Price is the least important part of the equation. You took the bull by the horns with the buy it now button. Hope you are happy with your purchase. You just entered a new chapter in your life- the "life is good" chapter.

Very cool, would love to check out a local rally and see some work first hand (so much better than the internet). Unfortunately I am committed to a fundraising dinner that weekend. Thanks for the link though. I'm sure future events will be in our plan.
