VTS is backordered indefinetely, but several weeks for sure. I'm pretty close to being able to reinstall the inner shell but wanted to deal with the rockguard using bucked rivets. I've got an idea for making one but a closeup picture of the extension arm hardware would really help. I have a pair of arms from a salvage yard but a visual would be better than mere intuition.

Will send pics ASAP sorry about the delay. I have not been on here for a week or two. Hopefully I can still help.

No problem. I looked at a rockguard at a used RV lot and found the answer I was looking for. I did make the rockguard and will post some pics tonight. Speaking of pics, we're still looking forward to seeing more of your project.

Couch
Here is the U couch. Although I do not know how to design the table to fit next to the counter top , any ideas?

I'm being obtuse and don't understand what you are trying to accomplish. Are you wanting a removeable tabletop that stores away next to the counter or do you have something else in mind?

We like your U couch/eating booth and have a similar idea for ours. I'm with Dieseleagle in that I don't quite understand your question about a table next to the countertop. I would envision either a pedestal or flipdown type of table.

I want it to be a drop down table, with the pole in the middle. The only problem is that the counter top will interfere with the table, so that you can't get in on the left of the U couch. Should I square everything up, and then round the left side of the table so someone can scoot in?

I think I understand what you're asking. First let me say that your u-shape couch looks amazing so far! Cabinets, too! In order for someone to actually get between the corner of the counter and the corner of the table, you'll need to do 1 of 2 things or more likely a combination of the two - the outside edge of the table can't be flush with the ends of the bench - it should be shorter. Also you can take a "notch" out of that corner of the table. If you want to get real fancy, you could do some type of drop leaf table top - maybe have about 1 foot of the table top on hinges, with a sliding "prop" underneath so once people are seated, you flip up the end and the "prop" will slide out to support it. Just spitballin' here...BTW - what is the flooring that you have in there?

Or should I put a piano hinge in? I am also wondering if I round that left corner will it still have enough strength to support a bed? The table will be made out of maple and biscuited.

The flooring is IVC Linoleum 1 piece. Got it at Lowes.

Cutting off the corners isn't a problem, I've seen it many times especially with the small campers. I suggest you do some looking around at what others have done as well as original designs. You might find some simple modifications of your design will make it more workable.
Start with this Globetrotter by Craig Dorsey, and take notice that the seats are wider than the cabinets:
61airstream 2
look at page three also
The shape of the table top below has the most dramatic cut I've seen but it would still make into a bed.
(see 1st photo below)
And this one:
(see second photo below)
Good Luck,
Carol

It would be pretty easy to bob the corner and put a piano hinge on it with a locking support bracket. If I see the bracket in one of my woodworking catalogs I'll pass along the link.
BTW, are you sizing the top and adding cleats to the benches so the dinette can double as an extra bed?

Yes, I want to have this another double bed, but I am worried about the cutout interfering with sleep.

I'm sure there is more than one way to do this. But, if you bob the coner and then mount the piece with two sections of piano hinge leaving a space in the middle. This type of item goes in that space.
Metal Drop Leaf Support
It's from Rockler.

59 overlander, front floor is soft where frozen water tank burst years ago. I'm relatively unskilled at this stuff and was hoping to just pull the front 2 feet of bad floor out and replace without pulling the shell, can this be done without seriously compromising safety? have not cut out bad floor spot yet so am unsure how to butt up new plywood to interior shell and or marry to floor on perimeter under shell. trailer is otherwise structurally sound and dont want to go to all the fuss of pulling a shell off, I'd probably have to hire someone to help me and really dont want to spend thousands that I dont have.

You can replace the floor without pulling the shell off. I'm in the process with mine right now. Search thru these threads and you find a load of info. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f36/

We just did the floor in sections, starting with the back. 7.1 ft x 4 ft at a time worked out great!

The Framing Is Done!
Here is the dresser and overhead in the kitchen I had the overhead made smaller then the rest of the overheads to be able to bolt a Tv bracket on the wall. I need help again, what do people use to hold the cabinet doors closed, that looks good and won't swing open during travel? For the drawers I'm going to buy these slides that won't allow the drawers to open until you lift them up. Also with the shocks on the overheads what do you keep the doors closed with? Thanks for the help, Happy Holidays!

What do new Airstreams use on there doors to keep them closed? I'm thinking magnets or those plastic rollers, but am open to suggestions.
