1965 Tradewind Landyacht (D) Owners manual and/or service manual

Hello all, I am a proud owner (as of this week) 1965 24"Tradewind Land Yacht . There are a couple of items to be rectified and I am looking for a source for the manuals, if available.

Any assistance will be gratefully appreciated.

Patrick

Geez Patrick, sorry. I wasn't watching the Trade Wind knowledge base forum very closely. I hope you will see my reply some day.

I have a 66 Trade Wind that I have renovated. Not a shell off, but a major project nonetheless. The 66 trailers have those goofy Corning curved glass, frameless windows with silly crank out actuators. These windows are guaranteed to leak. Otherwise the bathroom design is very similar as well as other features.

I do have the owners manual with my trailer. It is a generic manual for all 66 Airstreams since they are very similar in function, just different lengths and amenities. I might be able to help answer any questions you might have.

Welcome to the vintage Airstream hobby.

David

Welcome to the insanity. You are very fortunate to have a couple of items to be rectified in a 52 year old trailer.

I also have a 66 Tradewind manual and could send you a copy if you would like. I am of the opinion that there is really not a lot of useful information in it except for specifications.

Tradewind Manual

Thank you for your reply, it has been busy on my side hence the delay in response. I have most of the general specification from different sources on the internet. If there is not much more than that in the manual I am hesitant to ask for a copy, respectful of your time.

Thank you,
Patrick

Thank you for your response. I am finding out that is a dearth of information for these older trailers. I appreciate the offer of assistance and may have to oblige your offer in the future.

Thanks,
Patrick

I am also a proud owner of a 1965 Trade wind LandYacht

Good Afternoon, As part of this self quarantining routine, i finally dove into restoring my air stream. I am a total newbie and i am looking for an owners manual. I have the book that they give to the new owners plus the lifetime warranty but i need an actual book so that I can start breaking it down as to what i need an any help would be totally appreciated. Thanks, T

Well, fancy meeting a fellow Coloradoan here. Maybe you live in the famous "4 corners" area. Welcome to these virus free Airstream Forums. These Forums are better than any owners manual seems to me. Vintage Airstream trailers are not too complex. You need some basic knowledge such as 12v electrical, plumbing, carpentry, a little mechanics and some common sense. I just jump in, see how it was made, and then figure out how to repair or replace it.

Take a look at the Airstream Trailer Knowledgebase near the bottom of the Forums page. Find Trade Wind, or Tradewind (Airstream spelled it both ways over the years), then your model year. There you will likely find lots of information on your trailer, see photos of one torn apart, and get a grasp on what your trailer might need. Trigger warning, likely everything.

My first project trailer was a 66 Trade Wind. I thoroughly enjoyed renovating it. I spent maybe 1200 hours on it and maybe $12,000 in materials over those two years (part time). Here are a few photos of what it looked like when done. I was a solid travel trailer. I sold it for another project. Dumb huh? Maybe the photos will help you out.
