We did ours outside through the winter, Washington state winters are a lot milder than yours.
Besides the photobucket link we have a thread that has a lot of pics of he rebuild process. forums 59-69 Tradewind, 65 TW remodel-our turn.
Keep up with the whole process it is worth it in the end when it is all done. It is your project do it the way you want, there are a lot of useful thread on the forum. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, can pass on any ideas and ways we accomplished things.
We just replaced the tires on the TW we have put almost 30,000 miles on the trailer sense we completed it in April of 2011. We tow exclusively with a vintage tow vehicle. We are getting set for another trip to AZ.

Thanks for chiming in. I followed your rebuild from start to finish. Your redesign with your new floorplan and your renovation work is superb. It really shows what can be done. Debbies decorating work compliments yours as well. What a great team.

Heres to another 30,000 miles of Airstream touring, before another set of tires.

Neglected to answer, but this one is from Jackson Center.

Got most of the old wiring pulled out today after tracking down the routes so I can use similar routes for new wires and not have to drill too many new holes. Also took down the front end cap today. Not sure how much work will be done the next couple days. Temperatures supposed to be around zero or colder.

Here is what the front end looks like today. All of the old wiring is out, the front end cap, and all cleaned up. Hope to start putting insulation in tomorrow.

Man, when you decide to do a renovation, you go all out! Amazing to see your Trade Wind buck naked already. Maybe the shell comes off next? A strong frame and sub floor are important to carry all the new appliances and cabinets.

Keep us posted on your problem solving and progress. This will be an very informative thread.

One thing that we did was use a polyurethane seam sealer on all of the seams on the inside. I was amazed to see water wick back up side horizontal seams into the trailer.
Looking good!!!

I can not tell from the angle of the picture but is that particle board or "engineered wood" on the floor? Looks really clean I love it! Keep us in the loop please. Great job! Cudos

Sprayed some sealant onto joints yesterday. Installed some of the reflectix insulation today. Found out it takes more adhesive than I anticipated. Still contemplating installing some fiberglass in addition to the reflectix later, after wiring is done. Dave, I think you used fiberglass, didn't you. How did you split it to the desired thickness?

The new floor is 3/4' plywood.

Once I get the other end cap off and walls insulated it will be time to figure out how to get everything to fit back in since the new refrigerator is somewhat larger than the old, the new furnace and oven are smaller.

John,
We, my wife and I used 6 inch glass and split it in half so basically used 3 inch. Used spray glue to hold it in place. Like the direction your are going!!!

Great work you are doing.

You said the new furnace is smaller. What furnace are you using?

Going to look into splitting some 3 1/2" insulation. That way it won't be compressed too much. I have some left over from other projects.

The furnace that is going to go into it is a Suburban NT16SE. It, and other items, are to be pulled from a camper of similar size.

Update

I found out that the front endcap can fit out the door. It is now in a storage unit with most of everything else from the camper. The rear endcap is now also down. I assume it too can fit through the door, but it seems much heavier and I'll need to find some help to move it out.

Insulation is now in place in nearly all of the front 3/4 with the rest to hopefully go in within the next few days.

Yes my interior sits in a storage unit because the manrage is full! So is the 10 X 10 storage unit!

Like your electrical port might have to use that idea. Did you seal the seams from the inside? Could save some frustration later! Just a thought.

You want to make sure there are no holes in the heat exchanger.

I am installing a new furnace in my TW because it is more efficient, the fan uses less current and I know there are no holes in the heat exchanger.

Looks great - you're moving quickly. I'll be using two layers of the prodex insulation with spacers similar to what some others doing Overlanders have done, instead of the layer of fiberglass. And I know what you mean about the original stuff looking better as time goes on....I threw mine all out on a pile then had remorse and rescued it and put it in an empty stall in my barn.

Dave's trailer and your progress are inspirational. I needed that this morning!

Yep, I did seal all of the interior seams. It's amazing how much room all of the items pulled out take up. The storage unit is full. I'll need to rearrange to get the rear endcap in. Once I get more interior items I'll have to move them in and out a few times too.

Glad to see someone noticed how I got power inside. Beats leaving something open that would normally be closed.

Didn't get a lot done today because I wasted too much time watching football. I own a campground and need to get some of this work done now. Once weather gets better I have a long list of other projects to work on. And once we open again for the season my free time will be pretty limited.

We are all going to come to your campground and tour your new Trade Wind! It is amazing how much you accomplish so quickly. My Trade Wind project is much smaller than yours and I have spent much more time on it than you have. How you work outside in a South Dakota winter is beyond me.

Sounds good. All are welcome.

We had a group of vintage Airstreamers here last summer at about the time I was looking into buying this Tradewind. I was warned about catching aluminitis. Some of them that were here were great. One couple shared with us their photo album of the project they did on theirs. Just need to be reminded of what can be done once in a while.

Not much progress today. Was working on a project of adding a breaker box, additional electrical outlets, TV, and DVD player to a couple sleeping cabins.

I'm beginning to mock up cabinets and appliance location. There will be a new power center. Any suggestions on where to locate it? I was thinking about in the face of the linen storage or wardrobe in the bathroom. Not sure about it being that close to the toilet.
