What year Caravaner - 1952?

I found this yesterday while driving around. No one home, and I left a note...I have my fingers crossed. Nothing like a heart pounding when you see those 13 panels. The door is there, just off the trailer. It needs work, but a keeper.

Need help with trying to ID the year. I think it's a Caravaner - 53 or 54 25 footer.

What year?

Rob,

I suppose you've looked at these?:

http://www.insideout-design.net/VintageAS-models.html

http://www.vintageairstream.com/archives/index.html

Do you think it could be like a '54 Cruiser, with those taillights & window layout? Is it a double axle?

No ID plate, I suppose? Do you have anything more to work with?

Fred Coldwell could probably help. '47WeeWind'

Good luck on a possible buy!

More info

It is a single axle. The owners weren't home and it's out there in the boonies, so I did not want to snoop around. I'll get more info.

I agree. The tail lights are 54 or earlier. They didn't make a "Caravanner" till 56. If its a double axle I think the 54 Cruiser is a good guess.

Neat find!

Cool If I guessed correctly, do I win it?

Well, I was pretty close the first guess ...

Does that nail it?

1953 Cruiser 25'

California | 6NNN (about 6200 to ~6399)
Ohio | O-4001 to O-4054

The one in: http://www.vintageairstream.com/arch...53Cruiser.html

sure is a beauty inside!

Finding owner

Right now I am trying to find the owner...everytime I stop in, no one is home..so I sneak out to take the pictures...heart a pumping to not get caught by someone...

I dropped off a note on the door last week, and it is now on the inside of the door stuck to the glass - hopefully a good sign.

I'll keep you all posted. I need this trailer...I need my fix!

Rob--

Do you have a good fix on the location? If so, go to the county dept of records. You can look at zoning maps to identify the precise address of the field, then use that to track down the owner's id. Then call them up and make an offer.

I used to do this all the time for my Dad (who was in real estate development). Most of the time, folks won't call a number from a note, but might entertain a serious offer presented directly (best often to call on the phone).
