Steve, you so deserve this Airstream. Y'all are really going to enjoy it. It's fabulous. I love every shiny inch of it. The interior looks creatively thought-out and very comfortable. I can't wait to rally with you.

Better make it to Moraine View or Branson...I dunno how many other rallies I can hit this year before it gets too cold. I have been through the ringer with Airstreams so far, so I hope this one fits..it better.

I am interested in mounting a slim rooftop ac unit that has a heat pump. Anyone have a reccommendation for this?

Someone earlier asked about the tanks. There are none. This trailer is set up for all electric. The water heater is a Gas/Electric DSI water heater, but currently isn't set up for gas.

This setup will be fine for the time being, but I like the idea of addinf a propane cooktop, or that nifty little oven/stove combo below.

I've got a 65 GT that did not have an AC and then put one on. Installed nicely, works great but after sitting back and looking at the AC ontop I said to myself that even though it was low profile it does not go with a vintage trailer.

Look for other options. It will be more expensive in the long run but you will not regret spending the money on an underbunk AC like the one from Dometic Trucking. Go to the dometic USA site and pick trucking rather than RV. There's an under bunk AC used for semis that would be awesome for your rig. I don't see a spot to hide a portable AC in a cabinet on yours

Having been there, done that, don't ruin a nice vintage looking rig like yours

Doug, I suppose I could look into those, but I will be pressed for money with wanting a Zipdee awning and running lines for a catalytic heater and my gas/electric water heater. I looked at the unit, but I do not see how it actually hooks up inside the unit. Would a dealer be able to install one of these?

Depending on how handy you are you might be able to do this yourself. These are ducted systems so you have a return duct and an outlet which you possibly hide in a cabinet.

The cabinets I am building are designed to house a portable AC with the vent going out the bottom of the rig. I plan on using a stainless steel clam shell vent or deck plate to cover it up during transit. Take it off only when I need to use it.

I'm trying not to cut the skin beyond just the hw heater, which I have down in the basement. I chose to use flush mounted system from precionsiontemp, the rv-500.

Steve, going back and looking at your pictures I see a mix of old and new. I LOVE the streetside window arrangement. I see Winick kept the hex-phenolic knobs on the casework. Those must be original, I'm not sure replacements can be found for those anymore.

Alas I can finally say that this isn't a project. This is a camper that is ready to use. I may add a few things, but when you get right down to it...it is ready, and so is the family to do some camping.

A majority of the interior was done by the woner Gregg Palazzolo of Palazzolo Design.

David did the frame work, flooring, plumbing, and electrical. The remaining work was done by Greeg at his home studio.

What a nice guy...he just installed a new city water inlet for me N/C.
