Any news? did you get paid from your insurance company? I hope so and you can buy another. whoever stole it will get theres before the end. What comes around goes around, they just do not know it yet. Take pride in the great job you did and your family. Good luck I hope you find a gem to replace her.

benWa, no. The Craigslist link you posted indeed is for a 22' Flying Cloud. Here are confirming pictures from RJ Dial's website - 1957FlyingCloud3

Eyes wide open.
Hi, I think it is really great that forum members are keeping an eye out for the stolen trailer.

I agree, this is a huge value of being on this forum with so many caring members.
Also of note are the many others who have been notified in various other groups who are also aware and watching.
One thing to consider - because the news is going around so fast the trailer may have been stuck away and too hot to handle. I've read of folks who had a car stolen and it was found years later very close to their home in a shed. It might not hurt to run advertisements in the local papers with your story. They may even run something like that run on the TV newscast - tell them about the Forums and how so many people in North America and Europe who are members of the Forum are keeping their eyes out for it. Someone reading the article might remember something????

I have heard it said..
"If more than one knows of an event..then, it's no longer a secret and, it's only a matter of time before someone spills the beans."
Just my take..

I dont remeber if I had suggested this or not...See if your insurance company would provide the funds for a reward for its safe return...Im sure that amount could be less than what theyll have to give you to make you whole again...just a thought...

I to would be inclined to think that the trailer is still close. While there are some pretty sophisticated thieves around, they're out numbered about 1000 to 1. I wouldn't be surprised if it were in a barn or garage with-in 20 miles from where it was taken or possibly abandoned "up some holler.' That is providing you have "hollers" there.
Good Luck! Roger

insurance settlement
Hey all,
So yesterday we finally got a settlement offer from our insurance company. The number is good, really very close to what we thought would be the best case scenario. This means of course that we signed our title over this morning. I'm devastated (and I think Ryan is too) that we've come so far without recovering our trailer. And though we may have the money soon to move on to a new beast, we will still be looking and hoping to get our original babe back. We've gotten some assurances from our claims adjuster that she will notify us if the trailer is found to give us an opportunity to buy it back from them if we want. Still, I'm heart-broken.

Hi Katie
I've been keeping an eye on this thread and when I saw r&kweber this morning I was hoping you found your "babe". I guess an insurance settlement is second best news. Good luck finding a replacement.......get going on it fast so you can get "babe II" ready for the spring/summer.

I checked just outside Wickenburg and did not see anything. Either I didn't go far enough or it was already gone.

Katie,
Just curious what kind of policy you have and would you recommend the insurance company? Lots of us have poor policies and it sounds like you were somewhat satisfied with the settlement. I'm sorry for your loss.

Katie and Ryan:
Glad to hear you received a fair settement, but very sad that you are now forced to put this chapter behind you. Do let us know what you do as a next step, and still hopeful your 18' shows up someday soon.

Jaime,
We insured it with our auto insurance policy in such a way that we got replacement value for it. Instead of the insurance co just giving us what we paid for the trailer originally, they researched what it was worth at the time of the theft, taking into account all of the work and upgrades we put into it knowing it is a collector's item. I'm not sure why I hesitated to disclose the amount we're getting...
We paid $7500 for the trailer in 7/2006 (a GREAT deal)
We're getting: $22,000

Thanks, Jerry, you saved us coming up from Ajo, which we would have done.

Katie, I am glad that you got a fair settlement from your insurance company. Trailers can be replaced, but the sentimental value will always be in your pictures and memories. Good luck in finding a suitable replacement.

You had a good experience with the insurance company but I know you would have preferred to have your own "Baby."

Good alternative outcome
It sounds like you documented your investment in your beloved trailer well. We still hope you get the trailer back, but you have the next best thing in compensation.....we are thinking about putting a GPS locater in our trailer when it is finished......we have been told that LoJack works only where they have agreements with the police....not sure if that is true--perhaps others can verify that. Good luck with your next project. pj

Glad something positive finally came out of all this. Perhaps you will find on in great shape that requires less work on your part this time.
