A few projects closer to being done
DH has been working 98% of his time on the 1966 Safari for our oldest daughter and family but he has managed to work a couple of things in for the Pacer. We have a caravan planned to northern MN in August taking the Albatross, the Safari, and the Pacer so we can all have a trailer and camp together.
The rear cabinet is so tiny that we may have to use baskets instead of doors on the left side. At least he got four drawers in there so we have a place for towels and bathroom supplies. This is definitely a trailer built for two. The window guard is on and there is still a list of about 25 things to do before it is "done" but I consider where we started not that long ago.
As you can see, my dear mother in law, who will be 97 in August, approves of the Pacer. She said if she was a little younger, she'd be going out camping with us. I would love to take her along so she could enjoy it with the rest of the family. I guess she has to be content with backyard Airstream camping.

Thanks!

Not too many people might say they cherish their mother in law but I do. She is the classiest woman ever and such a sweetheart. Plus she is 100% Norwegian so that makes her pretty tough and she puts up with us!

We got the Formica at Lowes and I forget the pattern number but you should be able to find it. It has an aqua and brown pattern to it. If you can't see it well enough let me know and I will take better pictures for you. It is post 307 and 322.. Not 309 like the title says...

I have to say that life for me was a challenge growing up but my mother in law has treated me and our kids like gold since day one. She has been a blessing to us all and everyone that gets to meet her wants her in their family. She is a one of a kind and she loves the Pacer the best even if she calls them all Airframes.

I love the "Airframe" name. If you haven't named a trailer yet, there you go! I love your MIL also!
Trailer looking good! Lots of uses for those drawers: we have one we call the "tampon drawer" because it's so tiny, not much tucks into it. Funny but it holds a lot of "little" things and it's stuffed full.

We have given up trying to get Gramma to remember Airstream so it is always Airframe to her. Her doctor is Dr. Hansted and she calls him Dr. Halvorson. Least she remembers her name and ours so that is the most important.
Those drawers are tiny and I did manage to pack some towels and toilet paper around but this camper is a no frills bare bones kind of operation. I can't imagine having more than two people in this tiny trailer and maybe one is better.
We will take it out for the maiden voyage in a few weeks. Daughter #3 and her significant other will be the first to try it out when we head to the Airstream Park. Hope it all works well and we have no problems. We would like to take it out ourselves first for an overnight just to see if everything is okay but can't with two trailers to finish in two weeks.
How sad that we have four trailers in the yard and haven't been out yet this year to camp. Excavators and concrete people will be here next week likely so no slacking off now.

I think "Gramma" might be doing better than me in the naming department! I have a terrible time sometimes!

Looking more like the road trip is closer
Pulled the Pacer out to see how my Highlander worked with it. I got the hitch, 7 pin put on and the brake controller. Now we are going to see about sway control and the like. DH says the Pacer pulls down about 2" on the vehicle so he is going to research what we need to pull it safely.
DH was working on the spare tire holder for a bit. Now he is back on the Safari again. Multitasking at its best.

Thanks TG,
We are almost ready for the first trip out with her. We are trying to make sure every angle is covered before we take off in a few weeks. The inside is great...just like brand new but better. Can't wait to get the first trip underway.

First trip out to come this week!
We decided we needed to take the Pacer out once before we haul it to MN for a long weekend. Work out any issues before we are a long way from home. We are going to one of my favorite spots along the river to enjoy a couple of quiet restful days before the excavation and remodel on the house begins.

Took me awhile to get catched up on this... I have so many Ooh's and aah's to say here, so I'll just summarize with one big "WOW". The Pacer is lookin' mighty fine.
Now I'm really feeling ashamed--2 years in and I still haven't finished my polish job, while Marie would tell me she could do her makeup in the reflection of yours. After I completed the first cut, my motivation to do the rest is so low. The Cyclo still hasn't been taken out of the box.
Congrats on getting to the shakedown cruise stage. We just got back from 10 days in Utah. We were able to shake the glass out of the main lamp, the screws out of some hinges, and some wiring out of the reverse camera. Shaking down near home is always better than 1000 miles and 12 hours away from your shop!
Anyway, amazing work as always!

Thanks Peter,
Good to know you are still around! Our plans to head out might be for naught as the excavators still have not shown up and DH is threatening to go back to paid employment while he waits for them.
Easy is so close to being done that it is a thrill to think of taking her out for the first time. Just don't think it is going to be us and not this week. I was so ready to go and have everything ready but we are just busy waiting for other people. This is one of those patience things everyone raves about I guess.
Thanks for the compliments...I will pass them on to DH.

Easy has taken her first trip out!
We headed east last Thursday with both the Albatross and Easy and stayed in Fargo one night. DH pulled the Albatross and I pulled Easy. Once we spent the night in Fargo, DH took the Albatross and me on to the park while our daughter and boyfriend took Easy behind us.
I was scared to pull it from Bismarck to Fargo and stopped frequently to check on everything but it pulled really well. I had one of our grandchildren along and DH had the other one in his pickup pulling the Albatross. We stayed together and had no problems at all coming or going either way.
We went to the MN Airstream Park for the next two days. Our third daughter and boyfriend (He is the one in the sweetheart apron along with our daughter cooking breakfast one morning) were given the task to try Easy out for the first time and see what changes/additions/deletions needed to be made. Everything went well except for two things:
One the key that we have for the door handle needs a backup made and we can't find just the key blank to get made. We don't need the handle, the cyclinder, etc. just another key or two. Help anyone on sources?
Second item is that the bed cushions slip over because the ledge isn't high enough on the back bed. DH thinks he can modify the ledge a bit and make it higher. I also got a full sized mattress pad to try to create something that holds the entire set of cushions together a little better. Working on that part now and it won't take long to remedy hopefully.
They didn't use the sewer or the water so we are not sure if those all work as expected either. They will be coming with us to another MN park in a few weeks and they can try out the water and sewer then. Keeping my fingers crossed. I did get to her our daughter's boyfriend sing Easy living about 48 times though....he's a character.
Pictures show some of the weekend's adventures. We had three lots at the Airstream Park (one for Freckles too!!) and everyone at the park was very nice, friendly and we got a lot of visitors to our sites to check out the campers.
Would not mind a lot there at all as you get to see tons of Airstreams, golf and swim as much as you want, and you are in beautiful MN lakes country. It is too far for us to drive that very often though so no Airstream Park lots for us unless I retire. Great vacation and time with family was had. Only a few situations developed involving frogs and fans and use of the powder room.....too funny.

Glad to hear it's going well. We enjoy the AS park also, but don't plan on getting a lot anytime soon. We can always go for a weekend whenever we want - there's always somewhere to park. And it's only an hour or so from home for us.
Have fun!

Finally back after almost 2 years...
We didn't die..or move away. We just completed a 2.5 year major renovation and expansion of our main floor after spending three years renovating three Airstreams. Life happens as they say. Missed all the good people on the forums and we hope to start work on the 65 Overlander that has been sitting patiently waiting for us....maybe this summer.
Snow is really deep here so right now we are finishing up smaller inside house projects in preparation for spring's outdoor work. Plan to meet up for some time in Yellowstone in July with our oldest daughter and family and the 66 Safari we restored along with our third daughter and her boyfriend with their 67 Aristocrat. We will bring the Albatross and leave the Pacer at home. Love that trailer for short trips but I just pack too much stuff!
Managed to rescue a Duke 16' trailer from a field last fall that is a complete mess. Going to see if we can make that into something yet. Can't find much info on that trailer at all. I have a lead on another trailer but no word on a price yet so nothing in place. DH has no idea either. He likes surprises.
Glad to be back.

Spring plans for Easy
Easy has been parked in safe storage all winter and we will take her out for camping in May and June and then she will be party central for a family reunion we are hosting in July. Then we are taking her to northern ND for a bit and then down to CO for some family trips.
I have had to have my right shoulder repaired and the left one is scheduled for later this month. After the reunion, I will get my knee replaced and then 6-12 months later, the other one done too. All this surgery and recovery is really eating into my retirement travel plan and getting started on the 65. All in good time I guess.
