Twin Bed dimensions

Began tearing into my 59 Overlander today. have it mostly gutted but have a question: Mine was setup as a side double bed but I am converting it to be two twin beds and wanted to know what the width of each bed is and what size mattress did you use? I assume the same dimensions for both sides even though the rear bath entry is offset to one side.

Thanks.

Mine are 32" also. I don't think you'll find a 'standard' mattress to fit. If you find something please let me know.

I know that college dorm long-twin mattresses are an approximate match -- may not be quite as narrow. I found a couple good twin mattress replacements at camping world 6 years ago but haven't seen the same ones since. J.C. Penney is one fairly reliable source for dorm-length sheets.

Here's what we bought: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f226...tml#post760286

This is very comfortable stuff. We bought the twin size and cut it down a bit to fit. Reasonably priced and a great company to work with. They told us that the foam has a six year life with "everyday" use, so it should last quite a bit longer. Could not be happier! I'm working on the front couch and intend to use the same stuff for the couch.

A memory foam mattress can be cut to any size with an electric knife. We bought a king size and made 2 custom twins. We have a rear bedroom excella and had to cut the curves into our mattresses. Easy job.

thanks

thanks for the ideas.
Trailer is coming along nicely. the floor is done and with the help of a friend we are starting to put it back together. am struggling on what to do with the waste system....guess I'll order a new black tank for above the floor like the original but I think I'll plumb the sinks to the black tank as long as the venting is done right so black tank odors dont find their way back to the sinks.
As far as the tub I'm thinking of putting a trap in below the floor and then using a portable tote?
This week begins the installation of the furnace and fridge. my friend and I along with many beers are having fun and I'm learning alot as I go.

Wolfpack,
We have a '59 Overlander too, we purchased it 2 months ago. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your project. Do you have pictures?

I got 2 new ones for my twin bed argosy at a place called The Original Mattress Factory. I don't remember the dimensions (but I can go get them for you if you need) I bought the 11" thick pillow top twin top of the line mattress. Boy do I sleep good! Well worth the $$.

I know this post is now kind of ancient, but any chance you're still out there Jim, and recall the thickness of the mattress you bought from them?

Was it this? High Quality Foam Mattress | Queen Bed | Polyurethane Foam | Open-Cell

Or there "memory foam"?

Just curious, we're looking to outfit our two twin beds for our 11 year old and 2 year old.

I recently bought two twin size gel memory foam mattresses at Costco. They are 8 inches thick and 36 inches wide. I am going to have to cut them down to size. They are available now with instant rebate for about $150 apiece . Have not taken them out yet but they looked great in the store.
