more progress.

creative plumbing under the bathroom (to route around the axle)

new dump hookup... going forward to the black tank between the axles, and back to the grey tank in the rear.

new 'hatch' for the electrical (Marinco EasyLock system)

moving right along

Your creative plumbing looks ALOT better than mine! And mine was done by a supposed "professional".

wow... at least i'm glad to have a very talented hubby

and i learned a valuable lesson yesterday... don't walk up and lean on an Airstream right after your hubby has been playing with the parbond. YUCK!

our plastic (or possibly fiberglass) wheel well covers were shot, so we threw them away a while back... covered up the steel wheel wells with wood

other pic is a slightly better shot of the underside of the 'creative plumbing' going over the axle. its not hanging as low as it looks like it is... trust me... its just the angle i took the picture at.

new door latch. looks sleeker than what was there.

i know that originally that AS had a knob, like a house, but hubby said the knob looked a little strange

. i do like the new latch tho, nice and smooth.

also, new fresh water inlet. we pulled the old inlet that filled the fresh tank out (it looked like crap anyway... so it did need to come out) and replaced it with this... regulator and backflow preventer both built in.

also, i discovered yesterday that the top hinge on the door is partially broken. its not bad enough that the door doesn't function, but it is bad enough that the door is slightly off-kilter (i was wondering why it was rubbing the frame when i closed it while we were busy putting the inner shell back in) anyone have any ideas where i can get a replacement, or what i can do about the existing one? thanks

One of the hinges on Goliath was broken at one time, and the PO had the hinge welded back together. It worked for the two years we had the coach, and AFAIK it still is working.

Yikes! From what you said, I can't tell if this is now your tank fill port or your city water inlet. If the former, be careful--you can (you will) burst your tank if you connect it directly to city water pressure.

that inlet is where the tank inlet USED to be... its now going to be the city water inlet... and i know better than to hook pressurized city water directly up to the tank ;-)

we will most likely have a seperate inlet for the tank... the only other possibility being that we do something similar to what my dad did... the pump and water inlet is set up such that if you open a valve, it fills the tank for you, and if the valve is closed, you run on straight city water, no tanks involved. (there would, of course, be an air release involved in this setup... AND we've also gone and installed tank sensors and a sensor panel so we can tell how full all our tanks are)

well... what have we been doing? alot, actually! first of all... hubby went and made a clean spot!

so i of course had to pitch in my two cents and make a few more. 5 years worth of tennesee pine tar does NOT come off easily! (pictures 1 and 2)

the location and framing of the bed has been laid out, and the electrical panel wired into the front of it. vent pipes for the black and grey tanks have been run in their original locations. (picture 3) the surround-sound jacks were finished (and TESTED. they work. even the neighbors can attest to that now!

the bathroom components are laid out where they will be installed (picture 6), AND...

hubby came up with a way to install a window unit AC with a similar theme to NorCal Bambi's in the floor replacement thread. the back vents directly to the outside, and the front will have ducts running front and back. (final pic)

tomorrow.... more plumbing, and the beginning of the cabinetry.

Ok.. well things have been going a lot slower then I have hoped, but all in all, I can say progress seems to happening, so I am happy at this point, as it stands I have not hit a stone wall.. and I just figured out how I am going to set up the pressured lines in the Trailer, so that excites me.

The A/C will be finished by the end of the day tomorrow, and that should make things... well.. not as sweltering hot as they have been, so I am happy about that, and it should make the trailer a nice place for Katz to do her little jobs that she enjoys doing around the trailer.. so all in all.. that just has me all giddy about getting that done.

After I get the water lines in, (Fresh Water tank and all that junk hooked up) we will be taking a short trip to test the "Quad T", out and start the debug process, which I hope will not be too much work, but it will give us an idea of what we have to take care of, and it should roll a bit.. just... well.. just because.. ya know...

Anyway...

Gonna start the wall dividers soon as well, which I hope will not be too much a problem... (I can hope can't I)...

SO much has been done.. and it seems my darling wife has kept the updates going.. I'll start to look around the other forums.. as time permits.. there is sooo much to see here.. and so much to look at.. it can get a bit overwhelming, but then again.. so can a full trailer remodeling job...

we have walls! w00t! heh, sorry. progress update: the bed platform is, for all intents and purposes, finished. (it needs one more sheet of plywood cut to shape and dropped on top of it... thats easy)

the roughed out bathroom has now been finalized and has walls around it.. we just need to finish the installation of the shower, and install the toilet in the appropriate place.

the chairs for the dinette have been built and installed. the surround-sound control unit/subwoofer hides quite nicely up under the roadside seat... i need to drill some holes or something, tho, so the sound from the subwoofer speaker can come out more easily, and so i can use the remote without opening the seat. both seats lift up with plenty of storage beneath

sorry for the terrible mess in these photos... but i wanted to show some progress at least......

That last photo threw me. It looked like the speaker connections were wired into a 110v outlet!

Katz, Thanks for the update. It looks like a great deal of thought besides the sweat equity have been applied. I like the rear bed and side bath layout. Keep us posted

fridge is in! and up and running! hopefully by tomorrow we can keep our drinks cold in it

its real nice... it automatically defaults to AC power when it has it available, and when it doesn't, it automatically switches to propane... and even auto-ignites the pilot. and when we get ready to pick up and leave, it has an on/off button right on the front.

also... Luna has been overseeing the operations with a watchful eye

So forgive me if you already posted this, but what type of wood are you using for the cabinets? And how are you finishing them?

we're using a combination of maple and alder for a subtle contrast... the cabinet doors will have a mission-style look to them, with a darker rim around a lighter center. plywood is 1/4 birch. its being finished with a layer of "golden maple" Minwax gel stain, followed by a layer of gloss polyurethane. i wanted to go with a light color because... well... trailers are small enough... i don't need to go making my living space look that much smaller with some really dark stained wood!
